Well, guys, we're off tomorrow. We've got our bags packed full of handle materials (stabilized woods, alternative ivory, white stag, etc), the contest designs, the bowie input, a few samples sent to us by Blackdog and others . . . and yes, some clothes to wear

.

I hear I can get some good internet access at a couple of internet bars, so I hope to post some field reports from Nepal. We're taking some money to pay for a party for the kamis and their families . . . compliments of Gurkha House and Bladeforums Forumites. It won't happen until after we're gone (it'll be on Dashain in Sept/October), but hopefully they'll send pictures back for us to enjoy.

Thanks, guys, for helping to make the trip possible. How, you say? By stimulating our brains with new projects, and by giving us just one more reason to go!

A word about the WWIIIs: Edgeworks is STILL doing the sheaths, and I will be shipping the first twelve khukuris (plus the ones that were shipped to me for sheathing) when we return. Yes, the day is drawing near when some of you will hold these things in your hands. Sorry it's taken more than 6 months, but I promise . . . it's worth the wait. Scott at Edgeworks has begged me for one of the first twelve, and I had to tell him no (of course). He did get the last available khukuri, though.

Craig and Marya

Craig,

First and Last - Have a safe and enjoyable trip. I envy you for going, and wish I could see the kamis when they see the designs. Hope we hear from you while you are there. Bring back a lot of pics.

Our prayers go with you.

Have a safe trip my friend. We'll watch the fort while you're gone.

Whatever happens, DO NOT drink the water. Stick to safe, wholesome stuff like beer or Yaks' milk. OK, forget the Yaks' milk, stick to beer. Everybody knows that germs can't live in beer. Well maybe they can live in beer, but they're out of your system before they sober up.

Get us a pic of a Yeti if you can. It would help me prove that I'm not the ugliest creature on two legs.

Al,

One question. Just how would a picture prove that you aren't the ugliest, wouldn't it have to be put to a vote?

I hope Craig doesn't run into any Maoists while in Nepal. They've been up to alot of no good lately.
