Well, guys, we're off tomorrow. We've got our bags packed full of handle materials (stabilized woods, alternative ivory, white stag, etc), the contest designs, the bowie input, a few samples sent to us by Blackdog and others . . . and yes, some clothes to wear
.
I hear I can get some good internet access at a couple of internet bars, so I hope to post some field reports from Nepal. We're taking some money to pay for a party for the kamis and their families . . . compliments of Gurkha House and Bladeforums Forumites. It won't happen until after we're gone (it'll be on Dashain in Sept/October), but hopefully they'll send pictures back for us to enjoy.
Thanks, guys, for helping to make the trip possible. How, you say? By stimulating our brains with new projects, and by giving us just one more reason to go!
A word about the WWIIIs: Edgeworks is STILL doing the sheaths, and I will be shipping the first twelve khukuris (plus the ones that were shipped to me for sheathing) when we return. Yes, the day is drawing near when some of you will hold these things in your hands. Sorry it's taken more than 6 months, but I promise . . . it's worth the wait. Scott at Edgeworks has begged me for one of the first twelve, and I had to tell him no (of course). He did get the last available khukuri, though.
