i think itd be interesting to see what kind of designs people in general discussion are interested in early 2009. so post whatever you are enamored with at the moment.

one maker thats caught my eye is chad los banos. especially his biscuits and the mpt by boker. good value and sweet designs, and the potterma scales are beautiful. im also interested in some other fb dedicated fighters like the spyderco fred perrin, boker af 5.5, and murray carter white crane. im not an operator or sd buff so dont ask me why

The Spyderco Rock Lobster and the Leaf Storm and the CRKT Tuition and the Benchmade Nagara is nice.

I also like the rock lobster and tuition. Also the Ritter Rsk Mk5, Folt's minimalist, and the Renner Neckolas. I was surprised by how much of CRKT's stuff I liked.

Benchmade Hardtail
Todd Begg CIG
Busse AK47/ Ruck
Cold Steel Pocket Bushman, Folding Kukri

Not necessarily my favorite designs, but ones that I've been fixated on lately.

I love the new designs out there by Les Voorhies
especially the Titan framelock and his VPD folder

I am currently using a griptilian with wilkins G11 grip, I love it but it's a bit too big for me ( cutting cardboard boxes, fiberglass straps, tape and glue in L.A.)

BRKT bravo-1 nothing new but I still don't have one:grumpy:A few more ZT's, got my first one today.
And maybe a busse if I can swing it.

The CS Spectre has me completely enamored for some reason. CR Mnandi's seem very beautiful of late, guess I'm maturing. Krammes Cricket is cool. Beggs folders, Snody Resistor, anything by Grant and Gavin Hawk.
Some older designs that, to me, are timeless are the Hattori Fighter and the WorTac. I like the Al Mar hawkbill backup also.
So, not all "designs in 09" but, oh well.

Gibby

Anything by Allen Elishewitz or Brian Tighe. And, of course, anything Randall or Loveless.

Again, not "new for '09," but that's what I'm into these days.

Here are a few of my favorites....

The enduring Buck 110.
The Spyderco Military.
The Spyderco Native III.
The Ken Onion Leek, by Kershaw.
The Osborne 941, by Benchmade.
The Chris Reeve Sebenza.
The Chad Los Banos Trance, by Boker (quite possibly the best knife design I've seen in many years).

The good ol' Buck 110; C. Reeve's Sebenza, the Zero Tolerance knives, and anything by Todd Begg or Shane Sibert.

thx - cpr

Right now, and for a long time past, and for a long time to come, my favorite knife was, is and will be...

The Spyderco Military.

My second favorite knife right now is the Kershaw ZT0200

These knives are pretty sweet too.

Can't afford one, but my favorite knife design of all time is the stag handle Loveless drop point.

Edited:::Oops, just noticed primitive mans post is almost identicle. Great minds think alike.

I'm most excited about the Benchmade Nagara, the Spyderco Rock Lobster, and the RAT Cutlery RC-5.

The Bark River Bravo 2 is the knife I'm loving at the moment. The thing is over-the-top awesome. Mine has "ghost green jade" G10 scales, and is absolutely gorgeous. The blade shape and size is almost identical to the legendary KaBar, but it's not your grandpappy's KaBar. It cuts like a lightsaber, and is built like the proverbial tank. Like a Ferrari tank. If the chips were down, that's the knife I'd want to have with me.

Another knife I'm currently enamored with is my Case chestnut CV Swayback Jack. Beautiful. It seems to be the nicest, best finished, most consistent Case to come down the pike in a while, based on the reviews it's getting in the traditional forum.

And I love my Sebenzas.

I too, am surprised at many of CRKT's new designs this year. The Folts Minimalist has my attention at the moment. And now that the price has finally started to drop I think I'm interested in the SOG Axccess Card 2. Unfortunately, I've not heard anything about it from someone who has actually had a chance to see, hold or use it. So, I'm reserving jusgement on that one.

The Tuition is an interesting design but I'll wait for some user reports on that, as well.
