First off, I would like to say hello to everybody out there, for I am a new member. I have read most of the comments on the forum, but haven't joined until this moment. My question is as follows: I recently stumbled across a 3 inch Benchmade Bali at a very small gun show that I need help identifing. It has a mirror polished Weehawk blade with the butterfly logo bisected by BALI-SONG. It has stainless handles that have been drilled. It is latchless (however, it was probably done post production, but done very well). Lastly, the blade pivot pins are not flush, and are not torx style. They are pins plain and simple and are not adjustable. Sorry I have no photos to share, for this particular piece is not in my collection. I hope one of you pros out there can help me. I'll probably kick myself for not picking it up when I had the chance. Thanks ;)

The model you write about is the BM30. If memory serves me correctly, it was discontinued around 1997 as it was not as popular (or as expensive) as the model 35 with the polished pins. I can't remember if it came with a sheath.

Welcome to the Forums Wire :) ..., nice to have more onboard!

Soooo...Ok....tell us how much it was so we can all cry :( !

Then we can tell you how hard to kick yourself....

Did you remember if the latch slot were still there? Or was it ground off? That would have been nice to see.

Welcome.

Well ExamonLyf, the price was $50.00 and the owner looked like a haggler. Probably could have knocked off a few bucks. And to tonyccw, I believe there was a latch cutout, so it was more than likely altered by one of the original owners. The sheath that went with it was the nylon horizontal/vertical Benchmade sheath with the nice white butterfly on the flap. It appeared mint, no frays. I don't know why I didn't grab onto it, I know I will never find it again. Murphy's Law you know....:D

That would have been a HUGE steal!!! Even with the latch cut off it is worth a lot more than $50 IMO!!

I'd at least stomp on my foot a few times for passing that one up..., but hey we've all been there! Thanks for sharing the story Wire...comeback with more Bali-Adventures....that experinece will make you "hawk-like" in the future!!
