What can be used? Any wood carvers here?

I carved a spoon. I think I'll use it on occasion. Anyone here know what can be used to prepare the spoon for eating? Couldn't think of another place on this forum to ask a question like this as there doesn't seem to be any discussion of wood items other than the thread about cutting boards.

Flaxseed or walnut oil would be my choices, maybe some beeswax after for moisture protection

Thank you kniferep. I'm really new to this. Just decided to do something different. It's very enjoyable even though I'm clumsy as a pup.
