What do Strider models stand for?

I believe that's a Strider family secret. They don't tell outsiders. :D :D

I believe they are the initials of certain military personnel who's actions they greatly admire and they consider it personal. GB and AR are also the designation for tanto or clip blade.

MSIC next Strider due out new model!

M.S.I.C.

Mick Strider Is Cool model

You idiot Gary, you are just trying to cause trouble cause you think there is no one here to expose yhour lies.

every one of the things that you mention as problems are false.

#1. oh wait, Mick has already done this one. The knife still worked

#2 Hate to break it too you but havent heard of any of these.

Wow.

Never knew somebody could feel so strongly about a freaking knife company.

Ain't that strange. Mr. Swenson's orignal post has been edited, and so has the offshoot thread he started regarding the same subject.

Wow, I had a nice reply to this all set out and he went and deleted it.

Suffice it to say that if any unit was actually paying $550 for folding knives that would indeed be an instance of "fraud, waste & abuse" of taxpayers money. I highly doubt that Strider is charging full bore retail to the Marines for their new knives.

As to the rest of his post (pre-edit), I hope there's a good supply of nomex available.

"Well isn't that silly?
Just another reason I won't EVER buy a Strider."

This from a man who calls himself "Walking Man".

If we want our knives to have lettered names, how does that affect you? In what way does that make you never want one?

I use G96 and have no idea what it stands for...funny thing is...it just doesn't bother the stuff....

Pull yourselves together!

Hi Gary....long time no smell....

Besides, even if we did know what the names meant, we would probably still refer to the knives by the initials because it is easier! LOL!

It really shouldn't matter what a knife is called, or why it is called that.

Yes, it always astonishes me. Strider-related discussions in particular seem to get people worked up.

I can't quite understand why they treat the basis for their model names as such a secret. You would think that it would serve as a beter memorial to the people whose names they are using if people actually knew who they are and what they did.

Well, I sure don't understand it either, but it is Mick's choice. He might have his reasons that he chooses not to share. Fine by me.

Well, if they let people know what they meant, then it could be said more that they were trying to profit off of the person that its named after.

As it is now we only get curious about what the intials mean, but I for one really dont care. I would rather that the guys who make the knife have the ability to name it anything they want rather then be questioned all the time why they chose a particular couple of people.

So? Benchmade uses numbers and I don't see flamewars over them doing it. Would you be happier if their knives were called Ninjatron, Terminactor, and Slamorama? Bud K has what you need.

Hey, a manufacturer can name its product "Dog Poop" for all I care. If it's a good knife, I'll buy it anyway. Who gives a hoot what the damn thing is called?

I don't believe we have the need to know why Mick chooses to keep the initials secret, nor do I care to.

Thats his business, he doesn't have to answer to knifers with the exception being that of quality and warrantee of his designs and products offered to us in the general pulic.

You either like the knives he produces or you don't. I don't own one, but I might one day. God knows I've owned enough to never say never about owning a particular blade design or makers product.

It's enough he doesn't want to divulge the information for me. Leave the man alone so he can get back to making those knives.

BTW Mick, nice job on the Tarani Karambit as well.

I bought the Strider GB, going on towards two years ago. I bought it because I wanted a no nonsense large rugged folder. It has done all I have ever asked of it without fail. Personally, I do not care what it is called. I like it! If Mick has a reason behind the names and chooses to keep it to himself, SO BE IT, I respect that. Then again, I tend to treat people with respect on the net just as I would to their face. Something that is not the case with all people that frequent the forums. Many people use the net to talk trash that they could not get away with in person, (and still retain all of their teeth). It is sad sometimes to see how people will treat others, just because noone will see them in person to address their actions.
