I'm having some issues with the law dogs about my kobun. I orginally bought this knife to be my first carry fixed blade. Got it, and it wasn't all I was expecting. Sure its a good knife, but you sometimes got those knives where it just doesn't do anything for you. Along with the fact they don't want me to carry it cause its not a "hunting/fishing" knife. Someone on here pointed out the Becker Camp knife, and it seems exactly what I want. Its tough, the right blade material and shape..and its legal.

So here I am stuck with a Kobun, can't quite afford the becker yet. I like the kobun, I just can't carry it.

What do you do with a knife you can't do anything with? Sell it?

I'm thinking of trading it off for a becker, its the Aus-8 I think. Though when I got it came with no box, so they could have easily slipped me a 420 pos. Assuming its the Aus is that an even trade for a slightly used becker camp?

The older AUS-8A blades that I saw looked like they had a satin finish and the 420 is bead blasted. The older knives had a different sheath as well. It had a very wide clip. The 420 version's sheath has a much narrower clip. I am not sure if any of the AUS-8A knives got this sheath before the changeover in steel was made.

Are you referring to the Becker Magnum Camp Knife that is now discontinued? If so, I think that would be a good trade for both people.

Opps! Didn't know there were 2 versions of that becker. I want the Campanion version, the smallest one I think. Looking my kobun over, I got the Aus-8. Clip is really wide, definatly not bead blasted.

What do you think? Would it be an even trade?
