What do you guys use to store your uber expensive customs. For about a year I have been using Bills Custom Cases. I like these because the fiber inside the case is moisture absorbent and the elastic bands on the exterior of the zipper case are nice for the sheath.

However I have also found a nice leather worker that is making some great cases too...for very reasonable

any opinions on what is better? I also Put a couple of silicone packets in the case also...

any other suggestions. The one thing I do not like about Bills Cases is that the "fuzz" sometimes attaches to the oil on the Damascus of some of my upscale pieces...

At blade I saw some awesome wood display cases..etc..which are pretty but I am afraid of theft so they are in for the most part my Gun Safe...

sorry for the ramble...what do you guys use..and is a good case part of your knife after you get it?

I run an electric dehumidifier in my safe, so far no problems. Kind of expensive but cheaper than replacing one of my customs.

A Bill's case houses every knife I own.....have been using Brownell's Gunwrap(per an endorsement by our own E. Russ Andrews) for the carbon blades with excellent results since July.

Recently, won a raffle for a Gigand Fred Carter replica complete with a very nice display case. I am waiting to re-gift the knife to an inner-city disadvantaged youth in the hope that he will use it to climb up the corporate ladder, around the Holidays:D but the case now houses my Dean El Diablo, and P. Long sheath.

This is the only knife I have on display, as it were.

Handle material shrinkage may very well become a serious problem for you.

almost half of my 200 knives are out on display in some fashion in many rooms of the house and the rest are in drawers of specially made storage cabinets which I purchased a number of years ago when anothe collector passed away. Running out of room.

Mine are locked in a vault. Individually "bagged" in small pouches sewn by my wife. They're some sort of "anti tarnish" material supposedly used for storing silver. Don't know if they are the reason but I have no corrosion or tarnish yet. Though I do clean/oil as needed.

I have a few dessicant packets in there. I don't worry about material shrinkage because the only natural materials I have in there is fossilized mammoth ivory. (Edit: a kind soul informed me I should keep a watchful eye on that mammoth ivory) I have some stag, bone, and wood but those aren't stored in the safe (because they're frequent users).

With a small child in the house NOTHING is on display. Besides, he enjoys it too much when Daddy opens up the safe and goes through the knives. ;)

All my knives are on display in similar fashion to these.

Sometimes individually.

Sometimes two related knives together. Two Fisk hunters in back (Gamemaster & Sendero) and in the fore ground, a Fisk Officer's Military and a NLT Sendero which shared ancient ivory from the same tusk.
