Hi Everyone,

Are there any good instant coffee out there?
Or is all instant coffee inferior?

:barf: But if that's all you have.........I would drink tea.

My sister uses Nescafe instant. She has been drinking it for as long as I can remember.

Sometimes I make iced coffee with Nescafe Classico. It's not too bad that way. I also tried some highly touted Israeli instant. It is no better then the local stuff.

There are some concentrated liquid coffees on the market, but they are very expensive and I haven't tried them.

I think it's like drinking an old K-ration. :D

If that's all you have, go for it.

I'm with UffDa, Tea would be better. Or make Cowboy coffee instead.

I got picky about Coffee over time. Fresh ground beans (Like right now) and Drink it once brewed. (Like right Now) :D

I have used the Folgers that is in a bag like tea when camping. It is a combination of instant and regular. It's not to bad, I use two bags at a time instead of one.

I can only have decaf, and drink the Maxwell House decaf that comes in individual packets, like tea bags. I think it's okay, not great, but palatable.

I have carried these little sleeves/pouches afield before, and they're not too bad.

I don't drink instant at home or elsewhere though.

All instant coffee is inferior to brewed coffee.

Instant coffee is better than no coffee at all.

Instant coffee is good for sprinkling lightly over vanilla ice cream. That's about it.

The ONLY instant coffee I've ever found that is palatable is the individual bag coffee from Maxwell House. It comes in single serving "tea bags" is is a very fast, very neat/easy way to make hot coffee while deer hunting (on the stand, etc.), camping, etc. Tastes just like regular Maxwell House.

+1 Tasters Choice back when I did instant coffee. Do Costco beans now.

I drink Maxwell house regular everyday as the mainstay here. Quick no mess coffee that does the job.

With that said, its off to the microwave to heat up another mug. Good stuff without the hassle of making a whole pot, and clean up associated with regular coffee.

I've been drinking Mountain Blend instant for about five years, I think it's the best of the supermarket shelf brands. My wife can no longer drink coffee, so rather than torture her with the smell of brewed coffee, I drink instant.

"via" tastes very much like a traditionally brewed starbucks....that may or may not be a good thing depending on your opinion of their coffee

it is expensive for what it is

Expensive instant coffee is usually on a par with the fresh brewed stuff at Starbucks.

Some people hate Starbucks, but that is the standard by which most coffee seems to be judged -- "better" or "worse" than Starbucks.

I would rather drink decent instant coffee than the cheap rotgut that comes in a gallon sized tin can.

For camping, consider an old percolator instead of instant. Or even one of those filter things that you balance on top of yer coffee cup and pour boiling water through. Both are superior to instant.

Most of the instant I've tried in Europe is quite a bit better than the instant in the US. Wish I had some names to look out for, but I don't.

When compared to average to decent coffee brews the best instants are ok for quickies. They are a bit lack lustre. When compared to top roasts they are very dull, and that stopped me drinking instant again.
