Just broke in a new sheath with some Burt's Bees foot cream....
what do you folks use to treat your Buck leather?

I've got a six-inch diameter plastic tub of Mink Oil that must be 15 or 20 years old.

Just goes to show you that you don't need to use a lot. I have never used anything except Mink Oil.

A 110 sheath that I've owned for 42 years and worn extensively is still in excellent condition, so I guess it works.

:)

Saddle soap and Lexol leather conditioner to clean and preserve. The appropriate color Kiwi shoe polish (in small doses) to shine 'em up.

I use a product called sno-seal,just rub it in the leather, then heat it with a hair dryer,it soaks into the pores of the leather and lasts a long time.I use it on my old sheaths and they never crack, the ones i didn't treat the belt loop cracked.

I treat all my leather sheathes inside and out with SnowSeal. Rub it on, melt in a couple of coats with an old hair dryer. I usually take them apart and re-stitch with heavy waxed nylon thread.

Snow-proof on sheaths and boots. Restores old 110 and 112 sheaths to very supple feel. Gettin harder to find-have to order off the bay.

Been using mink oil for years, great product. I get it at Wally World, Kiwi M.O. for about $6.

Sno seal I haven't tried but I have used obenaufs and recently pecards

All three I hear really good things about.

Also anyone that shoots archery, sno seal is a great string wax,it lasts longer than any wax i've ever used.Sno seal on my work boots, knife sheaths, bow strings, belts,it makes them all last longer.

Just coat the string with it instead of a wax?

Yes, in the same manner as with the tube. Only instead pinch a dab between your finger and thumb and start rubbing the string. DM

David nailed it,not only is it excellent for the string,it pretty much waterproofs it in wet weather.

David, its excellent for fastflight,dacron,8125 and 452 x materials.I've got a set of strings i chanmged on my compound that had thousands of shots on them, and still looked like,i changed them for peace of mind.

anyone try Resolene??? great stuff for water proofing..

also use mink oil as well...

I will have to get some sno seal, is kinda like bees wax??

does it make the leather harder??

It has bees wax as an ingredient i believe,it doesn't make the leather harder,it makes it sofeter and more flexible if anything.
