What ever happened to Nordlund?

When I was a kid, the "exotic" axe everyone wanted (vs. plain old Plumb etc.) was a Nordlund - "genuine Swedish steel." I've picked up a couple at house sales recently, but when I searched this forum and general search engines, I come up with zip, nadda, zero. Anyone out there know what happened to this brand.

Howdy,

Norlund was bought by the Mann Edged Tool Company, they also own a piece of the Collins line. I'm not sure if they're being made now, but I saw a recent one, and it was a bit sloppy.

Old ones can still be found NIB, but they're a bit collectable, and the price is around $35-50. Knife writer Steve Dick was a big fan of the brand.

They made a little Crusier that was pretty neat, but cost a small fortune now.

You might want to check out an American brand, Snow and Neally, I've heard good things:).

Bob, thanks for the info. I have two of the Hudson's Bay patterns axes and a small hand axe in that pattern -- all from house and estate sales. I jst wondered how what was such a premium brand in its day could disappear without a trace on the Internet and blade forums.

Although I have not looked lately, there has in the past been a fairly steady supply of them on ebay. Both old and new.
