What happen here???

Does seem high, but...

I notice the collector number is 142V. V signifies a variant of the basic model. Looks like the scales are metal? Aren't these knive usually G-10? Maybe it's a rare variant?

I'm sure one of the Spydernuts will be around to school us.

That auction looks like only 1 knife to me. That is quite high for an Ayoob. The handles are almite aluminum, they look stock to me. The V is for variation. Not the original blade edge that was the first issue of the knife. Hope they enjoy the knife.

Does anyone know why the other dealer on Ebay that had all those #142 Spyderco knives this week was just declared "not a registered user" on Ebay?

Wow! Thats weird, he is the guy who auctioned off about 300 knives. I bought a lot of them. I have plenty of the better #142's myself :) He mostly knows coins. He may have had previous issues with e-bay, who knows

He seemed to be a nice guy, I even went over his house to pay him. I don't think he is going to rip anybody off...doesn't seem to be the type.

Damn...just sent him $62 for Spyderco Fred Perrin FB04 New in Box.
Hope I see the knife.

The V has me a bit puzzled. I'm pretty sure the Ayoob came in either SE or CE in addition to the PE, but since the catalogs only show the PE, would have guessed the one with serrations would have been the variant. Far as I know, they are all almite coated aluminum with VG-10 blades.

I'd say the chances of seeing this one relisted due to an NPB are at least 50-50.

The non-variant collector Massad I have is fully serrated, black almite aluminum handles. Although I cannot locate the letter that came with the Massad, I'm guessing the Variants were plain edge and combo edge (if these exist).

Just recieved an email reply from Randy Paul. I "won" an auction just before he turned "not a registered user". He assured me that he did not rip anyone off and that he will send tracking info. He might not have recieved payment yet as I sent it the 25th. I didn't ask about and he did not elaborate on why he was no longer registered.

I own a PE Massad Ayoob with Micarta scales. Yes, Micarta.

I would expect on a good day it could sell for quite a bit, but ebay is very fickle... $300 seems like a lot.

When SE and PE are both available, SU is the primary collectors piece and PE is the variant. Likewise CE over PE, if there is no SE.
