From what i have read so far - Technical specs , pictures , reviews etc:

I considder the Byrd Crow to be a hibryd Spyderco delica and a Spyderco Dragon fly. It seems to have the same blade form as a delica, but with the kind of size you expect from the delica. Your thoughts please? BTW i have ordered a crow that will be here within 48 hours or so...

Please can you give me your opinion on the construction on byrd and steel choise . .

Thanks guys

With all due respect, I don't think that's an accurate comparison. The Crow's blade is hollow ground with a swedge, while the Dellica's blade is saber, flat ground. the Crow's blade also has more "belly" to it while the Delica's has the "splinter picker" tip. The Crow's blade may be similar to the Dragonfly's but the geometry is different (hollow ground, swedge). The Crow's blade also appears to have more "belly" than the Dragonfly's blade. I don't own the Crow, so must go by pics.

I can't imagine the handles would be close in the Crow and the Delica. I own the Endura FRN (now known as the E3), and the Raven. The raven has a handle shape reportedly more akin to the Stretch, but quite a bit thicker. The Raven/Crow line is somewhat bulky, and "fills out" the hand very nicely.

As for the byrd steel, more and more people are singing it's praises. It won't perform as well as some of the higher end steels, but does very well, espicially for a $25 knife.

Construction is also very good. I know of only one example of someone having problems with a byrd, and last I heard, that person had just resorted to using another one in it's place. I think he got a "lemon". It happens.

Come back when you get yours, and let us know what you think about it. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Looking forward to a review? And pics, We like pics.:D

Yes i plan on giving at least a short 2 pence worth of what i think and maybe some pics if i have enough battery in my camera. You dont really hear much about the crow . . i have seen very very good reviews about the raven, but for me thats simply too large. this crow will replace my Spyderco Dragonflys as an EDC. I like my dragonflys, but i want something new and i think my delica is a little too large for carry (for social and legal reasons maybe too), But from what i have seen the crow is an inbetween in size although seems to have a big handle. As long as its "carry'able" i may switch this crow i am getting as my EDC. i use a sharpening stone (diamond/saphire combo) and as i have been learning on my sharpening skills, i have made some "bloopers" while doing so, so one (my first dragonfly) is battered and scratched to hell but has a good edge (now it has a good edge) but the newer one i boiught to replace it is a little battered near the but of the blade and does not cut well . . it tares. i could fix it but i am a little lazy with all the work involved in smoothing it out. ALSO . . . . . one side note . . I use something called "Renaissance Wax" on any knife or sword i buy. Has any of you people tried this wax ? it brings a nice level of protection while adding a subtle silky feel and shine sometimes. i actually coat the whole of the blade (including the edge) then i give the blade a quick go on the fine saphire side on my sharpening stone to wear the wax just off the parts that count. This way the blade has water protection and accidental "scuff" protection on the blade to a certain degree.

I love Surefire flashlights and Knifes (spyderco all the way)

lol i got a crappy kershaw something or other and thats seriously rubbish btw

Spyderco brands are by far the best i have seen. Before my life of "Spyder" i was a stainless steel £1.50 knife kind of guy . . . then a friend put me onto spyderco and got me spending like over £80 on a delica and dragonfly!

Go spyderco!

Chow! look forward to your responces

So would you disagree that the crow will be the perfect inbetween of the Delica and the Dragonfly ? This is what i am hoping it to be. My delica is too big really to carry (law wise) Technically for measurements its legal (3 inch and under) but any knife that locks open is classed as a fixed blade and thus is illegal to carry (technically) but i rang up my local police and asked them what the "limmitations" on carrying a knife is, and they just said it has to be 3 inches or under and has to fold into the handle. - Works for me -. but the 3 inch blade is a little too intimidating and socially not reassuring. So this byrd looks nicer design keeps the stubbyness and gives me a bigger blade while "technically" being <Under 3 inch, instead of the delica being <> 3 inch exactly.
