what is that logo/design on Spyderco knives?

My newly acquired Para has one, so does my new Manix (although it's different), but not my Military, why is that?.

I think they are initials. On the Manix I'm pretty sure the symbol is an E and a G for Eric Glesser. Maybe that is Sal Glesser's logo on the para (I'm not really sure about that one).
 
Eric's is definitely a hybrid e/G as a single character.

Sal's is his first name, unless I am wrong about something that looks blindingly obvious to me. :) Reverse a "z" to get the zig-zag "s," carrot^ for an "a" wedged under the s's belly, then L set inside the "a"^.
