We've all seen the threads of what your carrying, if you like a particualar brand of knife, what style blade, handle material, etc. . . It's always cool and interesting to see what other knife knuts are totin' or what they like on a blade ! :D

Curious as to what your #1 every day carry (EDC) preference is. Keeping this to the very basic's. . .

I voted production folder, because
1 i'd be afraid to use and abuse a knife that someone had made by hand
2 i couldn't be bothered with the whole waiting list thing
3 there are enough reliable factory folders available to satisfy my wants and needs
4 fixed blades are illegal to carry where i live
5 customs are harder on bank accounts

Good poll, should be interesting to see the results
:)

Production folders because:

Fixed blades make me feel too much like a commando-wannabe (not that I think that about others-- it's just how I feel when I'm wearing one).

And production folders have improved so much in last 20 years that you can have a knife that is extremely close to custom quality (sometimes even better than custom quality) for a very modest price.

And if I lose or break my production folder, I'm not out alot of $$$.

Good luck,
Allen.

Custom folder. Sometimes it's a production one, either Emerson or Reeves, but most often it's a custom. When I want a pocket clip model it's usually my Don Greenaway Damascus.

and when I want a plain old folder it's usually my Gilbreath.

Why? Because I like them. That's why I bought them. When I'm not using them they're just sitting in a drawer. Look at it this way. How many of you would by a SiG, Kimber, Beretta, AK, AR or Winchester and not fire it? Chances are, any of them cost far more than a custom knife. How about buying a Dodge Stratus R/T, BMW, Saab 95, Mercedes or Jaguar a never drive it?

See what I mean?

By the way, you can buy custom knives for well under $200.00.

I have five that I rotate.
Camillus CUDA Damascus
BM 940
BM 750 Pinnacle
Kershaw Ricochet
Speed Tech Synergy

Customs. I have no problem taking a rifle in which I've invested over $1000 into the woods and using it, because that what it was built to do. Likewise I carry and use my customs, regardless of the price, because that's why they were built. If a custom is so pretty, and so expensive that I won't want to use it, then I'm simply not interested. Just my personal tastes; I completely understand the mind-set that drives folks to buy exquisit works of cutlery art and not use them; maybe someday I'll have the money to do that too!

Cusom folder, Terzuola ATCF. It was designed to be used, and that is what it gets.

I carry three knives daily, an Emerson Commander, a SAK and on of several Spyderco users.

:D Good morning ! My everyday carry choice is usually two to three small fixed blades .And usually are my JSP BLADERIGGER omega 3, omega 3jr,jsp creditcard blade, or my Emerson Lagriffe. The bladerigger stuff is considered semi custom . I just prefer small fixed blades over folders.

In the office (suit), it's an A.T. Barr gents folder. Wearing jeans, it's either a DDR small Apogee or a Tom Anderson Wolfpup.

However, it's not like they ride alone: in the office I also carry a WH B&T Persian, because it's a great piece to fondle and open/close discreetly and, when I'm wearing jeans, a Whitewing Warlock is usually in the left front pocket, just because it's such a great knife.

On the other hand, my around-the-house-wearing-sweats knife is a Spyderco Starmate. As great as the Apogee and Wolfpup are, they just don't ride that well in the pockets of my sweat pants.

Boy, I guess not many of us like the custom FBs. I find that a small custom knife costs little more than a high-quality production folder. No lock worries, usually better ergonomics, and carry in either a pocket sheath, horizontal belt sheath, or IWB sheath is pretty unobtrusive, especially if you wear a sweatshirt or vest like I usually do.

I voted custom folder since my favorite carry knife is a DDR CF EDC.
I carry a custom fixed blade everyday, though. A DDR CF ArcLite.
Also got a Rinaldi Gambit that sees alot of belt carry.
So does a small Sebenza, on the production folder side.
The EDC is #1, though:)

Currently, since Christmas, it's a production folder - BM 730 CFHS.

Carry a Crawford/Kasper and M16 Tanto (both 3")
I couldn't afford the nice stuff... gotta wait for student loan. ;)

I voted production folder. Lately it has been a Strider GB. Sometimes it is a Microtech Socom Elite or Kestral, sometimes a REKAT Sifu. Soon a Camilus EDC and Madd Maxx. I seem to tend to use the heck out of the folders. Whhen in the woods I usually carry some sort of Khukurias my main blade.

I carry several knives including those on my keychain everyday. All of my favorite main blades are customs. They are as follows:

De Villiers Spearpoint Exectac
Small Obenauf in ATS-34
Mayo TNT Mini-Hawkbill

I have also started to carry non-tactical as main carry lately since in my office environment, one hand access is not that crucial. I recently acquired a Bailey Bradshaw mother 0f pearl single blade stockman and I will soon be carrying a double lockback Moose from P.J. Tomes.

All those knives mentioned, I have lately found that I feel virtually naked if I don't carry $45 Queen/Robeson Wharncliffe pen knife. It is absolutely one of the best built knives I have ever seen at any price.
