What kind of steel is it ????

I have a Spyderco Endura that a friend bought for me as a birthday present either in 1990 or 1991. I've seen other Endura's that have the type of steel stamped in the blade. This knife does not. One side of the blade says Spyderco and the other Seki-Japan. My question is what kind of steel is it?

The steel is probably GIN-1.

But, I believe it was called G-2 in those days. Go figure.

...and from what I've read, GIN-1 is equivalent/identical to G-2. Why the different names and especially numbers, I dunno. Could be a vendor thing, like ATS-34 vs. 154CM.
