What kind of steel is "S55C" ...ever heard of it?

Has anyone ever heard of S55C? I'm looking for a chem composition from a documented text. In this particluar case, I can't just say .55 Carbon, but rather need a spec from a credited organization such as ASTM,SAE,DIN....etc.

Any help??

S55S is the japanese description for 1055 steel. If you are interested in steel comparisons, just take a look at the list Jean-Paul Gauche made. It is here:

I found the JIS spec and quickly cross referenced it to SAE, AISI, UNS, and DIN. I've got everything I need now.

Yep! it is just plain ol' 1055 steel.
