What next? GEC Moose or Big Jack?

I got the Big Jack, because I don't like having to turn the knife around to open the other blade.

This may be because I have carried a trapper far more than anything, usually a Schrade 293.

That configuration is what I am used to.

I love my buffalo horn Northfield Big jack.

Coonskinner +1. My Big Jack is in burnt grizzly cut bone. I prefer both blades on the same end.

The Big Jack is my favorite pattern. I couldn't recommend it enough. I've got two of them and a couple of their other equal end patterns, a stockman and a furtaker.

I have both, and generally recommend the big jack, because I prefer the jack configuration, but I have a "big horn" moose which has two clip blades, and I carry that more because of the stag that it has.

GEC has a bunch of choices. Almost too many. I just got one of their Congress knives with a spearpoint blade; not to be made again. I also recently got an Executive Whittler, which looks almost impossible to make.

In a few weeks, we should see a dogleg trapper. Can't wait.

Went with a Big Jack in midnite blue.

My thoughts when it gets here.

Thanks for the recommendations guys.

"life is simple it's either Cherry Red or Midnite Blue"

Nice! I was debating between midnight blue, appaloosa, burnt stag and cranberry acrylic. Went with Genuine Stag, serial #32, for my 32nd birthday gift for my self.

I was also debating btw moose and big jack. Big jack won.

Can't wait...

Serial number 03 got here this afternoon. F&F is excellent, sharpest out of thebox GEC I've received.

I have three knives on this frame, a Northfield Harness Jack in banana peel bone yellow, a Cattleman pattern in cobblestone bone, and the Big Jack in midnite blue. Love them all.

about the only advantage i can see with the moose is a scenario where one end of knife is damaged, in this case one could still open a blade from the other end. i'm still trying to get the pics. will try after lunch.

I thought I read somewhere that the origin of knives with blades on both ends was that they were used in hunting; both blades were opened and the knife was thrown at prey to slow it down and/or kill it.
