I want to learn how to throw knives and am going to buy a couple throwers. I would like to know what size and blade shape to look for. I am not looking at profesional grade stuff, just for a bit of backyard fun.

thanks.

I agree with Bigfattyt, Cold Steel offers some superb quality throwers, and they are not that expensive either. When looking for a thrower, you want a knife that is balanced and that does not have any crazy projections. What I mean by this is that you want a relatively straight profile (e.g. without a sharply curved blade), and you want the knife to not have one end much heavier than the other. However, when you are just starting, you do not necessarily want the biggest and longest knife you can find. Pick a knife of a reasonable size, one which is both comfortable in your hand and not so large that you focus more on the force of the throw as opposed to learning good form. Also, do not order knives from the Cold Steel website (they are way overpriced there). I hope this helps.
