well it might be a cool way to diss some euros as well, since getting a gold membership isnt as easy for us. who knows, maybe it'll soon be like on that other 'usual' forum where people couldn't register for a while when their ID indicated that they were from europe.

The server has benn getting hit hard and this was the only way to deal with the problem. Either that or everyone is going to start seeing the "Server too Busy" message and having the forum down more and more often.

Getting an upgraded membership will help provide Spark with the funds he needs to keep up with the demands the increased traffic is having on the BladeForums servers.
