What Version Is This?

Could be a Third Version. To me the pic says Fourth Version, but it doesn't say it clearly.

Blade looks short....I don't think it's just camera angle. Maybe it's worn down from sharpening.

Oh, you're into another interesting mystery, no doubt.

:)

Considering it is being shipped from less than 2 hours from my house, I may have it tomorrow. Then we will know.

You can't see the blade stamp. It could be a third, or fourth. The blade does look short. Hope it is worth the $25 you paid. looks like a crap shoot. Good luck.

The seller stated the tang stamp is: It is marked "Buck U.S.A.". That would make it a 3rd or early 4th.

with, what appears to be, the brass nonheaded rocker I'd bet 3rd just because they are more prevalent but could be 4th ver 1st var

It is a 3rd version the rocker is brass and headed. The spacer is brass and looks to be integral. The wood looks DRIED OUT! There is no gloss to it at all. As soon as the pictures finish uploading, I'll post them.

Ok, here are the pictures. Now what think you? I polished the butt in order to see the spacer better.

The only question is the back bolster butt end.

I can't see much. Is there a spacer going right down the middle?

If not integral then it's a Fourth Version, Variation One, I would think.

I said at the beginning it seemed to be a Fourth......I'll stick with that guess even though I can't really see the spacer for sure.

If it could only talk......it could tell us of its life of abuse.

;)

That life of abuse ended as of when my wife got the package out of the mailbox and said " What did you order now? Uhh, a knife.:D

As for the butt, try this angle.

Reminds me of when I was a kid and read "Black Beauty." I was so glad that poor horse finally ended up in good hands after a tough life.

I'll go along with Bertl on the ID.......but actually all I see is a line where it doesn't seem like a line should be. Or maybe it's a scratch.....or a gouge......or a bullet-wound.

:)

Mitch, A nice example of a early 110. Some have a easier life than others. These days when a package arrives for me my wife says; 'open it and lets see your new knife'. Believe me they know us... DM

I use a little mineral oil rubbed in with my fingers...
It has brought back salted scales to like new looking.
Others may suggest other things.

Mitch, keep us posted as you clean it up. I think sitflyer's suggestion of the mineral oil on the scales is good. I use paste wax that I got years ago, it is bowling alley wax.

+1 on mineral oil as sitflyer suggests. A few applications over time has done wonders for me on some really dried out wood. Good luck! Nice knife!

Yes. Brass or something? Odd. How did that get there?

I don't have any that look like that and I have them back into the Thirds.

Mitch,
I could see the diferent color of the spacer/spring holder and that says the knife is a 4th Version. With a brass rocker rivet, its a Variation 1.
The spring isnt brass, its just discolored. I've seen this before and maybe whatever made the wood go dull, did a number on the spring? Other than the short blade, the knife should clean up very well.
