"What would it cost to get ________________?"

This a great question....I love to hear it! :D

I'm just creating this thread as a place for people to go to get more information (I can keep it all in one spot).

The easiest way to get pricing is to go to my Order Tracker here:

www.kosterknives.com/orders.htm

I do plan on posting some tutorial pics..."how to" stuff...etc., later on...but for now...I'll just post links/info.

Those of you that have used the Order Tracker to submit an order...please feel free to add any tips or tricks....or comments or suggestions. Everything and everyone is welcome!

Hey Dan what d'ya think it would cost to make something like this out of 3/16" 01 if the blade was say 3-4" and handle 4ish ".With a Micarta or wooden handle ?

pitdog - the Order Tracker says $195 as shown with sheath.

Here's a breakdown...a "Tutorial" of sorts...to show how the Order Tracker order form works:

(login/pwd required)

First matter of business is to decide which knife style to start with (Santoku, WSK, K-TUSK, etc.)

In this case - and with all new designs and one-off designs - you start by picking "Other".

You'll also need to specify the blade length, etc.

Next part is to decide on materials.

Sometimes people get hung-up on the heat-treat part of it....just leave it as standard if you don't know. I'll correct it. The clay-coated heat-treat costs more, but is not available on stainless knives. The stainless knives are all sent to Paul Bos. "Standard" heat-treat means I do it myself in the shop (1095, O1, 5160).

Note: if your choice makes a change in the price it will say "affects price" next to it...otherwise it will be blank or say "no charge".

The default shape I do for handles is a tall oval, and the standard finish is Briwax. If you want something else, please specify here, or in the comments area.

This is also the place to select "extras/options/add-ons".

Below that is the option to add a sheath. If you leave it blank, it will not include a sheath. You have to select the box next to "Add Sheath" - the page will reload (don't worry your options are saved!) and you'll be able to select a sheath.

I send out for all my leather sheaths, but make my own kydex sheaths.

The prices below are "standard prices" and will fluctuate depending on the size of your knife. Larger knife = more expensive sheath.

After you have entered in all the information above, do a quick double-check to make sure you've put everything in correctly.

Next, click "Calculate Order Price" to get a price. In this case, $195.

After you have figured out all the details and are ready to place your order, click the "Submit" button at the bottom. I get "oopsie" orders now and then by folks checking prices but accidentally hitting the "submit" button instead ofthe "calculate order price" button. Nothing wrong with that - just shoot me an email and let me know to cancel it. No big deal.

Well, there ya go...it's wasn't that hard, right?

:D

I just signed up Dan! Now I wait for funds to come up among all the other projects I have going on (2). I love your smaller knives so i think I will start there......K6 Karda.....yummy!

I fiddled with the tracker and shot you an email regarding a santoku question/quote...What about those multi product handles (IE corian and wood, etc.)?

I still do them...just not as often. You just select "bolsters" in the options part above. I got your email and replied.

I tried the Order Tracker to price check a WSK, but the gallery link to actually see the knife with the options is down. A skeletonized 5160 WSK with an as-forged finish and a cord wrapped handle behind a finger groove, sawback and all, would really suit me in what I think it would look like, and the price is in my range. But, then again, the link is down. Can you fix that?
