just got offered a drop point hunter made by bill Siegle but am not at all familiar with him, i know he just reviewed in TK.

anyone have comments/reviews ? the knife is going for $220 thats seems about right for his price range, judging by the website he has.

thanks in advance.

I have not used his knives so I can't speak on that aspect, you might want to drop Marion Poff an email in that regard. However I have discussed knives with him on a few occasions and he seems experienced in their use, something that is a good sign if you are looking for functional designs. He also works in materials that are very well suited to the knives that he makes.

The following is a design that caught my eye some time ago :

I keep thinking about that blade with a traditional axe handle, it then becomes a combination of hatchet and felling axe. It would be very interesting to work with.

i saw that one on his website and it is very interesting, the hunter i might get is flat ground and it looks to be a very practical design. the only thing is i'm not sure how you would determine the value on a used knife like the one i'm looking at ??

I have several of Bill's knives. They're all well executed with exceptional grind lines. No fluff with his knives, just sharp, well balanced cutters. I am very impressed with his attention to detail and he has improved immensely over the years. His sheath work is also very good for a custom maker. That is a plus. His prices are very good. I am proud to call him a friend.

I have owned 3 knives made by Bill, and all 3 were excellent! I have a Siegle Bowie with an 11 inch blade that I wouldn't trade for anything! (Well, MAYBE for a '63 Corvette Stingray!:D ).

I have met and talked with Bill a few times (at the NWKC knife-shows in Tacoma, WA), and I really like him. He IS one of the "good guys", and his knives ARE worth owning.:).

yeah, i'm not, thats why i am trying to find out something about them, i am also trying to find out if theres any market for the one i am going to purchase as i will only be trading to sell it later, any other problems ? relax...take a deep breath.

who pissed in your cherrios ?

Don't worry, my respiration is normal:)
Wasn't paying attention, and had just seen that for sale post, and it struck me a being, well, "peculiar".
I haven't had the opportunity to try any of Bill's knives, but have done a trade with him. Very straight up guy, and the knife he traded me was in what I would call "better than described" condition.
Good luck with your trade. His knives look great.
