Hi. I am having an impossible time deciding between a Small Sebenza Classic or Plain. Does anyone know of a shop in the Santa Fe, New Mexico area where I might view and handle both?

As I am new to the Forums, hopefully this is the right one for this message.

Many thanks...

I haven't found a shop yet that has a Sebenza here Albuquerque or in Santa Fe. I have a friend here in town that has a small classic that he has let me play with. It is a nice well made knife but it doesn't thrill me. Good luck finding one.

Watch for a local knife or gun show in Albuquerque or Santa Fe, and attend. You'll usually see some Sebenzas at them.

Where would be a good place to find out about knife shows in the ABQ/SF area?

Many thanks...

The short version is there ain't any.

There are a few gun and knife shows in Albuquerque each year and local gun and knife shows in some of the smaller towns.

Probably the only ones where you will find Sebenzas would be the Albuquerque ones.

There are generally a few custom makers at any of them, though. There are usually only the cheap third world knives, other than the makers.

There is a show in Farmington this weekend.

There is a place in New Mexico that sells Sebenzas and high quality knives (Microtechs, Chris Reeves, some customs), but expect to pay full retail (sometimes more). I am not exactly sure what city it's in (I believe it begins with an "s"), but it's right off I-40 somewhere between Albuquerque and Colorado. You cns see the signs off the highway that say something like Wholsale Knife Warehouse. Maybe someone else can give you better specifics.

I-40 doesn't go to Colorado, you probably mean I-25. Beginning with an "S" could be Santa Fe. If you find it let me know, I would like to check it out next time I get over that way.

I guess I spend too much time looking past billboards instead of at them.

There is a store called The World of Knives in Albiuquerque that has a large assortment of factory made knives and kitchen cutlery and low end swords. I haven't been in there in years though, and I can't say if they have CRKT knives.

Sorry for the confusion, I took I-40 through NM past Gallup, then into Arizona. I must have had Colorado on the Brain. The knife store I am thinking about is right around the NM/Arizona border. You can start to see the signs once aouside of Albuquerque.

Gun/Knife Show in Albuquerque on the 4th and 5th of Oct.
Some pretty good makers there usually, Joe Cordova is usually at the larger ones, have seen Bob Jones at a few of them. A lot of the less famous local guys are pretty good too.
There is a knife dealer who comes down to the bigger ones, named Leroy Beene, and he usually has a Sebbie or two. Thats where I handled one anyway.
Sometimes you get other dealers in there with some sweet stuff, seen some Ken Onion and Kit Carson stuff there as well.

Other than that... I am clueless. NM needs a knife-show man, we really do. I mean, we've got plenty of makers in this state, and some very very good ones (Michael Walker, Bob Terzuola, etc. etc.) and there are enough knife knuts it seems... :dunno:

I forgot about the large gun/knife show on Oct. 4/5. It really is more of a gun show but you might find a Sebenza thare. There is a place in town that sells Microtechs and he might have a Sebenza. It is called BMC and the phone # (505) 877-5357.
