Hey, i'm new to Balis, i just got one but i dunno what brand it is or if its good.. i got it at a garage sale.. i'm assuming its an offbrand .. at the base of the blade it says "ROSTFREI" i guess thats the brand name.. has anyone ever heard of this brand?
I was also wondering if there was an internet dealer that sells high quality good brand balis, like the tachyons and BM's and SWATS i hear you guys talking about...
On a side note.. are there any good sites that illustrate opening and closing techniques? i was at a site called balisongxtreme a while ago.. but i don't think it is up anymore
thank you guys for all your help

BaliMan, welcome to the forums, good to have you here! I suspect the answers to all of your questions can be found within the posts of the past week or so. Try using the search function.

To get you started, check out this thread for a link to Clay's BalisongXtreme site.

As far as places to buy bali's, almost all the interenet dealers carry BM's bali's. Try OneStopKnifeShop.com, Tripleaughtdesign.com or one of the many others. 1SKS also carries the Swat.

If you had checked the forsale section, you might have found this post advertising the tachyon as being in stock. You can of course order them directly from Mike Turber at Wow-Inc.com as well.

Hope this helps...

But welcome to the Forums Baliman.., let us know how you are doing with the new hobby....

HEY MAN WELCOME!!

I have a bali which also says ROSTFREI on the blade, those are cheap balisongs made in china sold at flea markets. ROSTFREI is german for RUST FREE or Stainless Steel. As for the places to get the techniques, the best website is Clay's Balisong Xtreme the only problem is that right now it is out. But you can enter with this back door:
Backdoor
As for the places to buy you can go to:
Balisong World
or:
New Graham
or:
Knifezilla
Or to the ones posted above by Masse.
Hope you find anything that you like and this helps.
;)

Sorry bud......... didn't mean to let you down.

Everything is back at BalisongXtreme though so knock yourself out.

Indeed ROSTFREI is German for "rust free" or "stainless steel", but not all knives marked as such are cheap. I own several very nice knives marked ROSTFREI; one of them a Hubertus auto.

Saying all knives marked ROSTFREI are not of good quality is like saying all knives marked "stainless" are not of good quality.

Why don't you post a picture of the knife? I am sure someone in the forums will have a idea of what you have.
