Greetings to all board members:

I have a Trailmaster Carbon V Bowie and was wondering if any of the custom knife makers here could put a set of green micarta handles on the tang and maybe even make me a kydex sheath for it with an adjustable angle of carry?

I apologize in advance if this is the incorrect forum for this request and will gladly accept any input.

Sincerely,

Thomas

Thomas, Welcome. I don't have an answer to your question, but have a Cold Steel San Mai Tanto that I would like to get a nice handle on. I figured I'd reply and get this back to the top b4 it slipped off the front page.

Any maker can replace your handle for you, and I am sure there are some new makers who would like the work. So, I'll bump this back to the top for you.

Bob Bailey, of Elite Tactical Systems, makes all sorts of interesting kydex carry sheaths. You can find his page and contact info on Darrel Ralph's website www.darrelralph.com

Check with Greg Covington. Goes by the name Xrayed here at the forum. He has done a lot of customizing on production fixed blades and is an excellent maker in his own right. Does a great job though I am not sure he does kydex sheaths.

Take a look to Jay Maines @ Sunrise River Custom Knives.

I don't know if Jay works with Micarta, or even Kydex, but he definately does CS Trailmaster conversions. He's been mentioned quite a few times in the past regarding similar concerns. Maybe you could email him with your questions.

PS-Sorry I'm so late with a reply to your post but I'm just now getting a chance to read the threads that I've recently missed.

I don't believe you can put scales on a TM because if I am not mistaken, it has a stick tang, like most all the larger CS blades.
I highly reccomend Jay Maines, also. He put a handle on a CS ATC for me and it turned out GREAT! You can see pics on his page.

Peace-
Cam

I have done rehandle jobs on several Cold Steel Knives including the Trailmaster, their Tantos and have taken the shinobu folders and made them into fixed blade tantos. I use Micarta, Ebony, Cocobolo and other hardwoods. I have also made Kydex sheaths, and traditional style wooden scabbards for them. I anyone is interested please email and I can send pictures and give you a quote. Vince. vjb.knife@verizon.net
