im looking at either the henry us survival rifle or the marlin 795 which one do u guys think i should get and if you have any other suggestions under 200 dollars feel free to post them

Put just a little bit more $$$ with your $200 and get a Ruger 10/22* You will never regret it.!

I agree about the Ruger 10/22...you won't regret the extra few $ you spend on it! I've not been without at least one since 1968!

10-4 on the 10/22 I still have the one I got when I was 12yrs old I'm 48 now. I'd be willing to bet it has had 10,000 rounds through it and never jammed. I bought my son one when he turned 12 he's 20 now.

I have never been a fan of the Henry survival rifle due to the barrel and barely there sights. The classic Marlin #60 which is a semi-automatic with a 15-17 round magazine tube under the barrel can be bought brand new for under $200 and found at gun shows for around $125. They are the less expensive alternative to the 10/22 which is what I would recommend as well. Good luck.

 to the 10-22, I love that rifle and have had one most of my life. The others don't compare...

You used to be able to get CZ 452 trainers in the $2-300 range. CZ Scout is also a good rifle. If you want an auto-loader I have to agree the 10/22 is the way to go.

the henry survival IS NOT a everyday plinking rifle...don't.

go marlin 60. leave the ruger to the tinkers.

Can't go wrong with a 10/22 but of the two guns you ask about, the Marlin 795 by a wiiiiiide margin.

I've messed with those AR-7 type rifles, from nearly every different maker that has put them on the market, and always came away disappointed.

I would also suggest the Marlin 60. I think the 10/22 is great if you want to customize the heck out of it, but beyond that cant beat the Marlin.

I own 3 10/22 rifles and I own a Marlin 795. The 795 is more accurate even with the crappy trigger. The 10/22 can be upgraded with no end in sight. All in all the 795 is a sleeper, what you get is what you get but for a 120 it is the best deal out their.

I own two 10/22's & they are decent guns, fun to shoot & like they have already said...you can turn the 10/22 into a tack driver with some tinkering but out of the box the Marlin is probably the more accurate of the two but if you really want accuracy then you better check out the Savage MKII's ! Savage will smoke either the Marlin or the 10/22 out of the box ! I've had the Marlin60, Savage 64FV & MKII, 2- 10/22's, Daisy .22L & the Savage's were the Top Dog's ! I've still got the Savage 64FV & 2-10/22's & Im gonna get myself another MKII !

In this category just about everyone from east to west, north to south-will tell you to get a RUGER 10/22. What ever you have to do to get a few dollars more to be able to obtain one-do it. Like others, It was the first gun I purchased at 18-and almost twenty years later- I would never sell it for anything.
