Which BM axis?

Hey guys, i'm considering my second axis lock purchase, my 710 is on its way to Benchmade for some repairs and i'm starting to miss the smooth and solid feel of the axis lock. I prefer tip-up, the knife would be used for standard utility stuff and looking good wouldn't hurt either. Handle comfort is a big thing, my 710 doesn't fit my hand well and the whole thing becomes one large 'hot spot' when i use it for anything tough (i don't have the option of handling knives before i buy them). So far i've been checking out the 721, 730 and 940. Any opinions on the above or suggestions? Appreciate any advice. :)

940 all the way.
Tip up or down.
Slicker than a bucket of snot.
Looks sweeter than a bucket of sugar.
Solid.

940 or 806D2. IMHO the 806 is THE smoothest Axis, even more so than the 940. Regardless, these two knives are my favorite Axis pieces.

Go with the 940. It looks good, feels good, tastes....Ha! It is small enough to not scare the good sheeple yet big enough to scare the bad sheeple.

I don't know the knives too well, but I've tried 940. Very slick, and shaves out of the box. ;)

I won't contradict the 940 guys, but try out a full-size griptilian if you can for a heavy-duty knife with a great handle.

I like the 940 also. There is a new version out now with
a clip point blade that IMHO is just great! You also should
consider the 705,small but it'll do all.

The 941 or 943 (only difference is the handle color) is one slick knife. Slim, lightweight, do-everything-type knife.:)

Let me also give some moral support for the 730 series. Fits the hand real well and has a general do-it-all blade shape. Also is available in M2 with carbon fiber scales. That was a limited run, however, and might be somewhat hard to find now.

That is a tough request, especially as so many find the model 710 to be very ergonomic. I prefer the feel of the AFCK to the 710, and prefer both to the 940. The 705 is too thick, and the ridges on the 730 can start to dig after a short time. I haven't used the 550 at all, but it did feel comfortable in the store.

I guess I'd recommend trying the Axis AFCK or TSEK, the liner lock versions always worked well and treated my hands with care. Good luck and have fun!

The 940 is a great looking knife, but I haven't had the pleasure to hold one yet. My choice would be a 940 since you already have the 910.

I'm gonna go with the majority and get the 940, for all the reasons you guys mentioned, looks like a slim, ergonomic and high-quality piece.

Dexter Ewing: The 806 is tempting, I'd buy it if they made it with a round-hole and a satin finish. You also helped me to decide on the Talonite version of the Camillus EDC (waiting for the uk dealers to get them in), thanks.

Gotta love that 'gettin a new knife' feelin :D

735, plain edge, black blade. Smooth lines, cool colors, good materials. Help - I've finally lost my grip when I buy just for looks!

I’m afraid here is no single proper answer ;)

806 Axis AFCK – the best handling, probably the best for outdoors use
940 Osborne and clones – the best look and carryabilitu, probably the best for urban suit carry
770 Osborne – the sweetest Axis Lock knife (especially new ones with anodized aluminum handles), probably the best gentleman’s Axis Lock
730 and clones – the best size to strength ratio, probably the best for urban jeans carry
550 or 551 Griptilian – the best price to usefulness ratio, probably the best buy
