Yes that would be the right thing to use.But................A lot ofHow about using a gasket scraper? That's what I use. I don't want to use a good knife and ruin a blade when they make a tool just to scrape gaskets.

a heat gun and a reground stanley chisel. a little heat and they peel right off.
