A R2 serrated ,which i know is a sprint run ,or a lil temperance, which i know is out of production.
which blade configuration is best on the l'il temperance?
Serrated or plain?
Any input appreciated.
thanks,regards,Rick.

Lil' Temp by far is the hardest to get! If you want the R-2 I believe newgraham(insert dot here)com may still have them in stock.

Lil' Temp is by far the harder of the two to find. The R2s really didn't sell as well as most dealers expected(they were sold out to the dealers long before they even hit the streets) so they'll likely be around for a while, especially the serrated version.

As for best edge configuration, it's a matter of preference. Depending on blade steel and Trailing point vs. Leaf Point, the SE can be pretty hard to find. For practical use they're both great, it's just boils down to which one you like better.

Which is scarcer plain or serrated?
What steels did the l'il temp come in?
Thanks scott for the input.
still awaiting what we talked about.
regards,rick.

Leaf blade came in 440V and S30V, in both version the SE is the rarer, and noone really knows if the S30V even had a SE.

Trailing Point only came in 440V to my knowledge, and I swear I saw a SE for sale once, but many others have said it doesn't exist, so I could be mistaken.

Don't you just hate waiting;)

The Lil'Temperance is a great knife. The older models had 440V blades and the newer came in S30V. These are the known (and possible ?) variations. I have entered my guestimate of first release date for each.

-C69GP Leaf Plain 440V 8/2001
-C69GP Leaf Plain 440V sterile all I have seen are box dated 6/11/2002
-C69GP Leaf Plain S30V 9/2003
-C69GS Leaf Serrated S30V 10/2004

-C69GP2 Trailing Plain 440V 2001
?C69GP2 Trailing Plain S30V ?
?C69GS2 Trailing Serrated 440V ?
?C69GS2 Trailing Serrated S30V ?

The trailing point with serrated blade is very hard to find. Not sure which steel it came in.

Here is a picture of both sides of five of the Lil'Temp variations. Top to bottom:
Leaf 440V Sterile
Trail 440V
Leaf 440V
Leaf S30V Serrated
Leaf S30V
The G10 got darker green with the S30V models. Changes in the clips and release mechanisms also.

Do you own all those temps?
Nice collection.
Which steel is better in this model?
Which knives are considered better by you. the earlier or the later?
One would assume the later ones have the bugs worked out>
What's your opinion? Also what's your edge preferance?
thanks regards,Rick.

Rick, Most of those came from a dealer closeout at quite a discount - I am keeping at least one of each variation but many are going as gifts. Most everyone that handles a Lil'T wants one.
As to preferences, my EDC is a plain-edge S30V leaf blade and my wife loves her trailing point.
I don't know that I would notice a lot of difference between the 440V and S30V blade steels. The newer ones are a bit more refined. What I notice most is how they close. The 440V leaf blade models close like most other knives with uniform movement all the way. The S30V models have a definite click when the blade is drawn into the handle over the last quarter inch of travel to full closed - I like that. The trailing point models do this also but maybe to a lesser degree.
The darker G10 on the newer models looks better in my opinion.
Many people dislike the strong clip but it makes for a very secure attachment. I have lost knives too many times while working. However, be careful around wooden furniture with the Lil'T clipped in your pocket. That clip makes a very effective wood removing tool.

For all the info i'm opting for the leaf blade in plain edge.
Again thanks for all the info.

I purchased a Lil' Temp S30V plain edge from New Graham Knives last week. They had a couple more at the time.
