Anyboby have a clue as to who makes the classic series bone handle slippies with the Cabela's logo shield? The are obviously sold by Cabela's but they are on back order at this time. I am interested in the scout version. Any idea of the quality and blade material before I buy? Thanks.

Given the price and the steel used (3Cr13 which is basically 420J2) I would say they are made in China. It will probably take a good edge but edge retention will be a bit lower so strop often.

What he said.
3Cr13 has less significantly carbon in it than 420HC.

composition
c-.26 to.35
cr-12 to 14
mn- 1.o
unless heat treat is somehow really tweaked this stuff wo'nt hold edge long.

BTW...I didn't mean you shouldn't buy one. I have a RR camp knife and carry it often. So if you see one and you like it then get it...here is my RR in jigged bone...
