It is a weapon correct? More difficult to use compaired to a handgun. So why arn't they covered under CCWs? You need to write on the CCW license what it covers correct? So why couldn'y someone just write in Walter Brend Neck Knife?

I've never been able to get a straight answer from any of the LEO I've spoken with so I am hoping a legal expert or just some lucky soul that came across the right knowledge can provide me with an explanation. :D

One small factor, in order to obtain a concealed weapons permit you must take a class, including a proficiency test. As far as I know there are no comparable classes or standards available for knife use.

Also, do you want to be fingerprinted and background checked just to carry a pocketknife?

Because laws and logic don't always mix. It does seem silly that you would be allowed to conceal a firearm, but a 2" fixed blade or auto would land you in jail and cause you to have your permit taken away.

There are a few states, Arizona and Florida included, where a CCW does apply to "weapons" and not just firearms.

Here in the state of WA... it's called a CPP (Concealed Pistol Permit)... because it used to be called a CCW and people were using it to carry knives concealed that wouldn't normally be legal to carry...

The limit on blade length in Tennessee (so far as I know) is 4 inches, and that is so long as the knife is not carried with the intent to go armed.

The barrel on my legally carried pistol is longer than 4 inches !
It's all very silly
