What is the advantage of D2 over SR-101. By the way I really like the new handles.

You can find the background with a search, but here goes. During housecleaning, Jerry (Busse) found a whole whack of D2 in the "back 40" of the shop. He had it lying around from the pre-INFI days and since he isn't planning on going back he posted it for sale on BF. I guess Jennifer bought it. Badabing, we have D2 SR. There are at least another 3 blades made of D2 coming to accompany the Bog Dog. In an explanation, Jerry stated that while he (obviously) likes INFI better, D2 is an excellent steel for smaller blades. Hence, four 4.5" D2 SR blades. Anyways, something like that.

There is a tremendous amount of hype in the cutlery industry as pushes are made for steels which causes a lot of misinformation to be thrown around as fact. However in this case the promoted advantages of D2 over SR101 are reality. D2 is a steel highly optomized for light use blades, it allows a high hardness and has a very high wear resistance with a decent ability to resist surface corrosion. Note as well that unlike most Jennifer was quick to point out the disadvantage of D2 which is that is isn't suitable for heavy choppers or prybars, this frankness there could definately be more of.
