Why do I keep going in circles?

I found myself returning to where I was before. That is, carrying my Calypso Jr for sheeple duty and Para Military for most of the rest of the time. I keep buying new knives, and liking them a lot, but somehow the same thing happens.

Take just recently, I bought a 80mm Manix, I love it, tough as heck, just the right size. After luging it for a while, got tired of the extra weight and went back to the thinner and lighter Para. What can I do? The same for the Lil Temp, Reg Manix, D'Allara DP, Military, Native, Dodo, Salsa, et al.

What can I do? Well, there are others I don't yet have.

How much do you weigh? The extra ballast of the Manix may make you veer constantly in one direction. Try putting lead pellets in your other pocket.

To avoid going in circles, don't use the pocket clip feature. It creates unilateral drag from wind resistance creating an imbalanced walking vector. Or you could carry one in each pocket with clips out to create uniform drag. Just make sure they're about the same weight or you'll be right back where you started.

No matter how much you like something, it's a normal human tendency to wonder if there isn't something else you will like even better. This keeps us buying, and trying, new knives. Most times, we discover that our "new love", while exciting is some ways, just does not suit us as well as "old reliable".

But, just often enough to keep us trying, something comes along that winds up completely displacing a prior favorite, at least until something even better comes along. For me, the Stretch did that a year or so back, displacing the Calypso Jr. and becoming my almost constant pocket companion.

That has not stopped me from searching for something even better. Have tried a few others since, and had high hopes for at least one of them. The search continues, and must admit it's fun.

Hey Gull Wing, your in good company!! Those are the two knives I carry, and the only two. My Calypso for class/work, and my Para everywhere else. Cheers:thumbup:

I do keep going back to my old reliables, the Dodo and my Caly Jr. and yes, the Para. As Deacon stated it is human nature to believe somewhere out there is that ultimte knife that will change your world. Thats why I keep buying and buying, looking for that EDC to beat all EDC's! I do believe it is hard to beat a certain handful of spyderco's when it comes to user practicality. When you obtain this golden list, you've got all you bases covered. Of course that will never stop us from buying more spyders!
