Why is the 15in Ang Khola a best seller?

I am curious about this fact.

Is it because the length of this particular Ang Khola is suitable for all round purposes?

What are the Ang Khola advantages over the other types of khukuris?

I presume the make and thickness and shape of the AK have something to do with its popularity?

I've had the 12" AK, and an 18", so I have to extrapolate on the 15"....
The larger AK is a fearsome chopper, but just a bit too large and heavy for my hands, to be called "agile". The small one is very agile, and can do light chopping, but is not a serious chopper. The popularity of the 15", I believe, is that at that size and weight, it retains most of the agility of the smaller blade, and has much of the utility of its' larger kin. It strikes a balance, in the features most described by users as desireable, making it a star in the "utility" category. Uncle Bill describes the WWII as the best combination of tool and weapon ever designed, but the 15" AK must be a strong contender for that title. Of course I won't know for sure until I have both..Hmm..HeHEE..HAWHAWHAW
Gonna need a fix soon:rolleyes:

Like Wal, I am going to have to speculate. I don't have a 15" AK yet, but I will someday I am sure (and a WWII of each size too). I have a 15" BAS and it is a great knife, but sort of light for chopping. I have 19" AK that is a great chopper, but kind of heavy for lighter or more delicate tasks. I guess that Wal's guess is right; that it is a good combination of the two. Heavy enough for tough tasks and light enough to be a comfortable user.

As is often the case, Walosi is dead on. Balance. Balance between light and agile and between heavy and a serious chopper, AND very well balanced in the hand. I have a 15" Chiruwa AK that is without a doubt my favorite khuk. It is the one I reach for for hiking, yard work and things that go bump in the night(if my Mossberg 500 pump is sleeping:D ).

I think the 15 inch AK is a sort of a middle of the road khukuri -- the average khukuri for the average guy. And, it got a great deal of favorable press early on.

I don't know for sure, the WWII is what we North Americans expect a khukuri to look like. I would agree with Uncle Bill, press.
