OK, here is the Thanksgiving "free kukri" contest:
Pictured are 3 knives. One is Italian, one is Nepalese, one is French. Two questions: which one is the sharpest and how many angels can dance on the head of a pin?

Winner to be determined by, uh, by...I don't know how to determine who gets the next crumby kukri from the box, but someone will.

I recognize that khukuri! It was made....Oh hell, nobody cares and I don't want to get the dust bunnies riled up. They are getting harder and harder to control.

John, I'll give it a try. I think (C) is the sharpest and that an infinate number of Angles can dance on the head of a pin.

Can't wait to see what others come up with.:)

Okay, let's see...

I'll go with Italian today... just cuz I'm eating pizza tonight :)

And however many Angels like the music that's playing at the moment :D .

(If I can pick... I'd like one of the white handled khuks from the box if I win :p :p :p )

Ah, intelligent and well thought out answers. This is going to be tough.

Bill, the devilish DBs would like this little beauty. It still needs a bit more restoring, but it's a cutie.

Funny part is I have "C" and it says "Okapi" Made in South Africa. It looks exactly the same..........now if you said one was Dutch or English.....maybe.....I'm getting brain freeze.....back to turkey dreams.

'B'- The khukri is the sharpest. Question #2- One would have to believe in angels and I don't.:p

I am interested, Uncle.

The khukuri is the sharpest, and 5,963 angels can dance on the head of a pin, as long as they are not moshing.

Sharpest potential C, however the edge does not seem to have been worked on. From the pictures A and B looks like they have been sharpened. My pick B as the sharpest. Angels can fly so I would an infinite number of angels can dance on the head of a pin.

B is not only clearly the sharpest, it is also the coolest, boss, phat, and downright nifty:D
If angels are corporeal beings, only one can dance on the head of a pin; if they are incorporeal, an infinite number can. Doesn't anybody read the Scholastics anymore?
Do I win? Do I, do I, Huh?

Boy! A free khuk! I can't pass this one up!!
Just by looking I would say C But they are equally "sharp" in the pix. I would say all angels can dance on the pin as long as they take turns!!:)

..and angels can't dance, unless the funky chicken counts as a dance step. The wings get in the way.

Uncle, if there is a story about the nice little Khuk, tell it. Don't leave it out there with Eyetalyun switchblades and Pierre's rachet blade

I guess that C is the sharpest and no angels can dance on a pin since they are spiritual and not physical.

The French knife looks to be the sharpest of the lot - the khukuri, though tiny, looks to be more obtuse in cross-section. The Italian knife looks more of a stabbing weapon than a slashing/cutting one, so the edge on that one isn't likely to be too sharp.

And for the dancing angels question, I'd say an infinite amount of angels - one after the other, taking turns. Actually, I read somewhere that the question is more correctly phrased as 'how many angels can dance on the point of a very fine needle?', but the result is still the same...

I'm voting for Berk - that pic is the nutz.

Where'd you get that statuary? My angel-collecting wife would kill for that.

Tell me where I can get one and my Christmas shopping is done.

I say the Khukuri is sharpest.

In re: the angels: I stand with Peppermint Patty and say "eight if they're skinny, four if they're fat".

C is the sharpest and all of the angels can dance on the head of a pin. Especially if they stand on each others shoulders. Now if they were doing the lambada the count might change a little - but then we might be talking about a different venue.

I first saw that little khukuri in Mugling in 1985. It was on the table of a roadside sauni, a 98 year old Newari woman named Sita who had a club foot. I was attracted to it because I had not seen many dui chirras so small. She had a provenance which I'll post tomorrow or the next day.

Good to see Berk back in business.
