Win XP rules!

Last night I was in the middle of a Microsoft Software Update ewhen the computer locked up. I just shut it down and tonight when I went to log in, the computer would just restart again and again. I'm not a novice user, I build my own PCs and build Mac and PC networks for fun. I could not get this machine to respond.

Finally I resorted to a windows XP restore option that seemed like it would wipe my WinXP installation, but it's all I could do to get the system working short of a format of the C: partition. I had already tried safe mode and "Last Known Good" options.

After 40 tense minutes, here I am! Win XP seems to have repaired itself to the point that my resolution settings and desktop picture remain!. All my bookmarks are OK as are all my data files!

I have to reload a couple drivers for optimum 3D and sound performance, but I'm a happy man.

With my experience, Win 98 and Me would have excised a whole bunch of my data during this recovery.

So far XP rules (except that WMA authentication crap).

Yeah I have to say I like it too, I have had to reload it once or twice, But that was mainly my fault for downloading a sh-t load of programs off of Kaaza and over using the Reg. Cleaner. Overall, I like it much better than any other MS OS!

Since I'm a cranky ole cuss I'm going to say that XP is just a bug fix to Windows NT with a goofy GUI installed. That said, it's still the best OS from MS in years.
I'm finally seeing features that should have been available in the '90s.

Now were did I leave my DOS 3.3 disks...
