I'm working on a scabbard for my Condor Golok. I've got the internal fit spot-on and the external shape where I want it, but, I'm a little torn on the carry method attachment. I'm planning on a separate removable leather frog, and would like to know if anyone has any advice on the various options for the interface between the two... what, for instance, are the pros and cons of using a Japanese style kurikata, or a brass stud as seen on some older belt sheaths, or parallel ridging above and below the frog? The scabbard will be stained or varnished wood, without any leather cover, chapes or drags. Thanks!

If you use a stud, the sheath will have to be slim enough to fit between your body and your belt comfortably (If your talking about the bowie-style sheaths:confused:). That wouldn't be my first option, as it's not very versatile or secure.

If I were you (and if it ain't against the rules) I'd post this question in W&SS...those folks are creative and are more than familiar with the condor golok. ;)

Good luck!

I would glue a strip of leather around the top as a way to keep the frog from sliding off.
another option would be to flare the scabbard a bit at the top to do the same thing.
3rd option is a pair of brass studs that match keyholes in the frog for positive connection.
is this going to be belt carry or baldric?

Thanks for the responses. For a little clarification, I'd like to know what you guys would consider the most versatile type of connection... I'm not sure exactly how it will be carried, but I'd like to be able to take it from belt to pack, as well as be able to play with various carry angles (vertical, heavy cant, edge up/down) as well as height.
