Woodsmans Pal

I have one that I use in combination with my Silky saw Ibuki 390 when I am cleaning up dying limbs up in the trees in our yard.
It is a good tool. A little expensive for what you get, but it is good quality.
The edge was too obtuse for my tastes and needed to go to the end of the blade. Once I changed things to my tastes I am very happy with it.

I agree: The fact that it isn't sharpened all the way to the end of the blade really bothers me. Good modification you made.

The hook works pretty well on brush but it seems easier to use with the model that has no handguard.

I keep one in the trunk of my car.....I have used it to clear areas when I am looking to drill soil borings.

You can also do a search on-line for US Army WWII manual on using it in hand to hand combat.

Its a good tool. Had one for years. Takes a decent edge and the hook is good in places with lots of briars or undergrowth. A little bulky/heavy for hiking or backpacking use, makes a good car or boat tool. "sheeple" freindly. hook works wonderfuly for lifting or dragging brush, it will save your hands and back. Worth the money IMHO.

I plan on getting one and (hopefully) finding a copy of the combat manual as soon as I get the cash.

Also, the Condor brush knife can do similar tasks, but lighter. I have the Condor and have had the Woodsman Pal, love em both, but the Condor worked better for me on light vegetation and the Woodsman's Pal was far better on heavier limbs.
