17.5 inches and 25 ounces. YCS made by Kesar. Steel mounted. Blade edge was not hard enough. Art's reworked and rehardened the edge and I can't tell the knife has had anything done to it. File says Art has the edge up to around 58 Rc in the chopping area which should be hard enough.

The knife is pretty well executed overall. Little tools are not to spec but they are pretty decent and the awl is sharp.

The scabbard took a hit somewhere along the long journey this knife has made and is split edge side. A wire wrap will fix it or a semi-pro can epoxy the wood together and put a strip of leather up the edge. That's a warning note you see on the scabbard.

I want to get this knife back into the field for testing. Art guarantees his work and so do I so you have a double guarantee on this rig.

We'll deliver this rig to your door for $95 but for that price we'll ask that you do some rigorous testing and give us a report.

Call or email if interested.

I would love this knife!!! But I'm saving to go to the blade show if I can go at all!

Quite a bargain - I don't think you mentioned that the usual list price is US$245.00! Well over half-off.

GTNY. This one is steel mounted, the "real" YCS is silver mounted and has to be perfect in every category to rate the $245 price.

All Right!!! Very Happy and I will rigorously test it when it arrives. Hate to do that to a work of art, but you need to know how these are going to hold up. I would rather have the steel than the silver, so thats great. Thanks for the incredible bargain, Uncle Bill.

Art has done some preliminary testing and it did fine but we need to see what some heavy and prolonged use tells us. My guess is this is going to hold up just fine but we need to make sure.

That one just bruised my heart. I can't really say 'broke' can I, for a knife? But Uncle has already been generious to me in the past, allowing credit for a Kesar Chitlangi. The Khuk is imperfect, with waverings in the fullers, but beautiful and unique. Every one is different, none alike, all worthy of homes and hands. I love my Kesar Chitlangi.

It is easy for me to say, "Why? Why must these abSOLUTELY WONDERfull blades appear when I have absolutely no money?"

But there is also beauty in accepting the very fine place I am in every day. Be happy in home. I'm not kidding right now. I'm serious. Sometimes these deals are so incredible, it is almost anguish to watch them go. Truly, I refresh my commitment to live a life. Every day we must do this, whether aware of the process or not. All of us, have 'enough', with all that is around us, blessings.

munk, broke but not broke

I think getting a PGA or UBDOTD has a lot to do with luck. This is my day off from work. I just finished mowing and fertilizing the yard, trying to get it done before it rains this afternoon. Sat down with a glass of ice tea to check email and hit my regular sites, when lo and behold, there is a YCS up as a special. That is one of the most incredible designs for a knife I have ever seen. Yvsa is very gifted to be able to design something like that. I emailed Uncle Bill immediately. Normally, I get home at night and see the incredible deals, but they are long gone. Anyway, I think luck or fate has something to do with it. I am real happy about getting this one.

WolvesClaw;

The biggest problem in owning something of value is fearing to use it to protect the same. The knife is very special because circumstances have given you a user and a work of art. You're right, those steel fittings are better than silver for this one.

And it is out of your hands: it arrives with the request to challenge the blade. I think this is just great. You can use it without the usual worry and even guilt about, 'messing it up'.

In another thread they've mentioned Excalibre, King Arthur's sword. Imagine if he'd not used it, but taken a plain rough blade to war to protect the 'investment'. Everyone deserves one knife, just for them. You have yours. For God's sake take it with you when you're out and about the forest and hills. Have fun, man.

Hear, hear, munk.

I've not spent more than a couple of days outside of the developed world. But it was enough to let me know that the vast majority of us in the U.S. live like gods when compared to most of the rest of humanity. We should be thankful each and every day.
