Worst knife?

We've heard all about what knives we love but what about the losers? Ever have one that you'd gladly give away except it would inflict it on someone else? I have one but since I consider it my fault (I was buying blindly over the internet and even more innocent then I am now) I won't besmirch the blade or maker. If I have a least favorite in my collection I would have to say my Emerson Raven. Once its open in my hand its great, trying to get it out and open is another story. You can tear off a pants pocket trying to get that (^*%$ clip loose and then its definately a 2 handed opener. Again probably my fault buying blindly but I expected more for the price.

Well, hey, dude, if you don't want it, I'd gladly allow it to be inflicted on me!!!!:D :D

Raven, since your new here ,I would suggest you not start topics like this as they lead to an instant flame war.If you stay around long enough you will learn what's good and what's bad without hurting peoples feelings. If your intent was to start a flame war,GO AWAY.Dave

No harm was intended and I hate flame wars as much as anyone. I've been through enough on the gun forums that I don't care to do that again. That's one reason I came here. I thought people could reasonably disagree here. Sorry if I offended anyone, potentially offended anyone, or appeared to be a sh!t disturber. It just seemed to me that if we have our likes we also have our dislikes and could discuss them. Not the first time I've been wrong.

No not at all,it just always happens that when someone thinks brand X knives sucks, brand X fans have to jump in and flame away.A good honest observation of a tight blade, bad qc,etc. is valuable to this forum. But "what is the worst knife" sounds like a dare to start something.Just my $.02, and I apologize if I offended anyone.Dave:)

Actually, I dont even have one bad one. I researched each purchase here and elsewhere, and never made a bad choice. How could I with a tons of wonderful knives being made out there.

I own a cheap knockoff of a Buck 110 that I use for opening boxes that I know have staples in them. It is also the knife I lend others to do their cutting chores with. This knife cost $4.99 and that is in Canadian $ so that tells you what a POS it is. If it was lost tomorrow I would certainly not shed a tear. It does serve a purpose though.

Well... I can't say CRKT Wasp is a bad knife, but I certainly did return it. It looks beautiful and it is, indeed, very high quality. However it is impossible to carry in a pocket - it is thick and has sharp corners all over the place. I scratched the hell out of my wallet while carrying it :) Plus the pocket clip is kinda week and it is hard to open fast. Pretty good knife for collection, but terrible EDC.

A knife can be "worst" for many reasons. I recently bought (on impulse at my local hardware store) a $5 folder that looked a little like the Gerber EZ-out. Of course it was a POS, but I wanted to see just how far my own knowledge of what makes a knife good/bad had come. In this case, bad steel, cheap pin, cheap handle that easily bent back and forth, no liner, etc. All the things you expect.

On another track entirely, about 6 years ago I bought one of the nicer CS Tantos. Not a POS knife at all in terms of materials, fit, or finish, but turned out to be totally useless to me, not suited to anything I do with a knife at all! Is scheduled to become the next knife I beat to death through logs once the current beater actually breaks.

Then there's the no-name fixed blade I got some 10 years ago and has now (except for the handle separating from the stick tang, just a glue job) been through over 1 year of being beaten through logs to make kindling and hasn't yet broken.

Last I'll mention a really "good" knife that's lousy for me, that being my BM/Elishewitz "Sentinel", one of those (now discontinued) BM collaborations that came out maybe 4 years ago. Fabulous knife, beautiful fit/finish, smooth as butter, locks up tight, pretty Ti scales, etc. Its got all the right stuff, but I just don't like it. Spearpoint blade I simply can not make razor sharp. Been trying to sell it for years (its been used very lightly so I'd like to get at least half what I paid for it (original price was around $115), but one day I'll give it to someone I suppose...

I got this funny looking knife in Tailand, simply becase it looked unique and didnt even cost me more than a dollar. This folder is hard open, close, and use safley since the blade can wobble out and bit the handle.

My vote is for my Frost Cutlery SURGICAL STAINLESS STEEL Desert somethingorother bowie. It has a painted brown blade and serrations on the clip and camo nylon sewn to the sheath. SO COOL! Well, it was when I was 12 and bought it. :)

Hey Tom, wanna trade my bowie for a TNT?

I have to give a warning (don't buy it) before i even mention this Loser, it's Blackie Collins "the STRUT 'N' CUT 2nd generation, i don't know about the 1st one but this knife without question is the most dangerous pocket knife to the user i have ever had bar none.

I bought two of them for 20% of there retail price since there were being discontinued, they should have buried them in cement.

I just cut myself for the second time with this knife and i know better, it has a spring assist to help you open it by using your finger to flip it out from the top of the knife and it doesn't lock and if your not very careful it can and will come back at you with force from the spring to cut you badly. I have a bandaid on my thumb right now, it came back at me and cut my thumb.

It does have a lock but you have to turn it at the end of the handle to use it and if you not very careful you can do yourself harm, it's made very well but that doesn't matter a bit, this knife is the most dangerous pocket knife to the user i know of.

IMO, he makes these funky knives with silly names. I hate EVERY one of them. Why? Because:

1. I find myself wanting one of each
2. Then I find out he can make each ten different ways
3. When I finally decide on which 20 to buy
4. He make numbers 20-28
5. As I wait patiently for Bill Buxton
6. This Hossom guy won't let me wait at all
7. Matter of fact he won't even take an order from anyone
8. For maybe Nine Months. Now that's not fair
9. He is Friends with Tom Mayo
10. He won't tell about this NEW knife-maker named
Kit Carson   ;)
11. I FINALLY settled on one knife to beg him to make
12. AND he posts TWO more than I want even more
13. He is friends with Tom Mayo ( said that already)
14. I gotta buy this Mayo guy Lunch if I ever want to
order a TNT
15. And Finally, I hate Hossom knives because he does not
like guns enough to allow me to BRIBE hime into
putting me on his waiting list.

So, that's about the only knife "Brand" I think I don't like. But as far as Hossom knives go, I do LOVE them.

No Flame wars for me    ;) :p :p

As far as my personal dislikes, I've had a few.

Gotta agree with Nifrand, my Junglee Babylon was a MAJOR POS!! I only paid $15 for it on a closeout, and I was STILL disappointed.

My most recent disappointment was an MOD Ladyhawk. Don't get me wrong it is a WONDERFULLY made knife, awesome fit, finish, design, very stout for it's size, powerful "kick" etc, etc, It IS a great knife from one of my top three favorite manufacturers. The only issue is that I got it over the Internet where I couldn't paw it before buying. It looked really cool, said MOD on it, so I naturally assumed I'd love it. Two major issues. #1 issue Ladyhawk has a very small handle...I have a set of XX large forepaws...BAD chemistry! Second thing is that it's the first hawkbill I've ever owned, and quickly discovered that it just doesn't suit me very well. Live and learn though, Like I said no animosity whatsoever towards the company OR the gentleman I'd obtained it from.

another overall negative experience I had was with an Emerson Commander. They are WONDERFUL GREAT FANTABULOUS UNBEATABLE, HELLBENT FOR STOUT, TERRIFIC, UNBEATABLY SHARP, STUPENDOUS nives, but my ONE Emerson Commander didn't work out for me individually....Kinda like the Ladyhawk. One of these days I'll try another Emerson and I'm sure I'll have TERRIFIC luck with it.

I have a Chinese made Buck 110 knock-off with a Damascus blade.
Now let me explain that when I was a dealer, a distributor sent me the thing as a joke.

For kicks, I used to put it out at shows with a label saying it had to be one of the top 10 worst of show. This puppy felt like it had sand paper washers or bushings and my 30 year old driveway has a better fit and finish.
