Make my ZT 0560 pretty again?
Like I mean it's been heavily used.. would they be able to put a good bevel on the edge? Maybe clean up the blade a little, etc? And would this be under warranty? I was told by someone that the Kershaw/ZT CS would fix up my user... so I'm wondering.. what all could they do with it?
Could they breathe new life into my faithful user?

They would do their best to match the angle of the bevel which they usually do fairly well. As far as the scratches, there's really nothing much you can do about that unless you wanted to change the finish entirely.

I don't think they'd make it "like new" again..especially at there cost for the simple fact that many people would have there knives refurbed and then try to sell/trade it as like new/barely used.. if you need sharpening, parts or whatnot they'll do it, but I don't consider ZT warranty a restoration shop.

Well thank you. =] I'm pretty fond of it too. Just thought I would check out options. I would kinda like to have extra sharpening room.

Not really asking them to restore it, just wondering what they could do with it. I would never pass it off as brand new, it's been used like crazy. If it were sold/traded it would be sold/traded as a heavy user.

It doesn't look like you've finished using it yet. Finish using it before you try to make it pretty again.

What did you use to sharpen the knife?

Hi Jessie,
I sent in my 0500 for service, after I had used it extensively and it began to show signs of wear (especially to the black oxide finish). It was returned to me fully re-finished and sharpened and looking like new. Fast turn around, no charge, excellent customer service!

However, during the course of re-finishing, all of the original lettering on the blade (i.e. ZT logo, production date, serial #) was lost / covered up by the new blade coating.

I'm not sure what they would do to restore the finish on a 560; you might want to consult with them beforehand to avoid any surprises...

My suggestion would be to send it to RichardJ. He would be able to make nice new bevels for you. And probably even put a satin finish on for you. All for extremely reasonable price.

They more then likely put a new sterile blade on it, I've seen them do that. Its a new blade with no markings.

Interesting... I just assumed that they had re-finished and sharpened the blade. Thanks for the clarification.
Greg

I may send it in.
I used stones because I got it with a funky edge and there was no way the guided system was going to fix it.
It's not the best looking but it's sharp and cuts everything. =]
I may send it in if they'll fix it up like that.

Concrete block strop. :D

My Grandmother always sharpened her butcher knife on the backdoor concrete steps...just before she snatched up a chicken to have her way with it for Sunday dinner ... always seemed to work for her ... LOL

What am I missing here? You have a knife that has been sharpened quite a bit, use it and don't look back. Looks like it's ready for a convex edge.

The chicken might have disagreed. :D lolz.
Actually, Elmax isn't that hard to sharpen, it's similar to CTS-XHP in sharpening from my experience. It touches up really nice too with a Sharpmaker.
