There are a lot of great patterns available in D-2 I noticed. I also noticed that you showed us a few that were not in D-2. That's OK, I love getting a look at all those slipjoints(a few lockbacks too).

I am a bit confused: I purchased the exact same large toothpick with jigged bone handle from AG Russell catalog. However, mine is ATS 34, yet it is shown on the first web site, you have listed, as 420SS.

Jay, It's been my experiance that the pipeline from Queen's
factory and the dealers takes a LOOOOOOOONG time to
empty and change over. I've made a couple of great buys because
of that ,but I've learned to VERY specific when I ask / order any of
Queen products.

Is anyone familiar with those Cattle King patterns? When I say that, I mean the one for the Stag Bone line, because what is called the Cattle King for the Cocobolo line is something different. Did anyone else notice that?

Anyways, the Cattle King pattern (stag bone), is very reminiscent of what Schrade OT calle dtheir Stockmans: more squarish in the handle design than most other Stockmans.

Edited: Yes, it appears they got things screwed up on the Cocobolo page between the Gunstock, Doctor's Knife, and Cattle King.

But the real Cattle King still looks like a Schrade Stockman, except a little larger. Any opinions?

Komondor, "cattle king" is kind of a generic term that Queen uses for
their large stockman. As to looking like a Schrade or any other stockmen
that is why, in slipjoints, they call the various knife configurations " patterns".
Sometimes you'll se a bit of a spin on the pattern, like Queen does' but it's
still the basic pattern underneath.

Queen is a very old company that has stayed true to it's roots. To bad more
folk's don't know about them as they make a hell of a good knife.

Wow, really nice. I am drooling over that big "
Cattle Knife" in D2- winterbottom bone. Any suggested prices come with the catalog, or can your order directly from Queen? Some of the knives are designated D-2, some 420, and the other page is "Queen Steel" so the eternal question remains, just what the heck is "Queensteel", really?

Opps, missed that small detail in the ad copy. Oh, well. Delrin is certainly durable stuff for a knife handle, been around long enough to almost a "traditional" material.

I myself like both delrin and true natural materials as handscales.
Several months ago I accidentally dropped a delrin handled knife on the floor. Man, was I grateful, that it wasn't a bone scaled!

Very nice stuff. Would love to get some of the D2 and cocabolo wood knives. Wonder when the will actually get into the hands of some of the dealers????

Don't know when the D-2 will show at dealers. My suggestion
is to call the dealers listed and let them know you'er interested.

Fox, "Queensteel" is an original term invented by Queen because
at one time you couldn't call stainless steel "stainless" unless it really
was. "Queensteel" is some of the most beautifully polished 440c
you'll lay eyes on.

Tightwad

Some time ago I purchased a queen gunstock pattern. I called Queen and they told me Queensteel is 440A.

Old Coastie, Yeah, you're right. The new stuff is 440A.
I had a bit if a black out there.......all my older Queens
are 440C and really take a scary edge. Oh well......
It's the age don't ya' know. Memory is the first to go!

I just gotta' start writing things down..................

Does anyone know where there can be one of the Queen Gunstock pattern knives in D2? Is the Knifecenter or one of the other sites going to be offering them, or are they something we'll have to procure for ourselves?

SpyderJon -

A few people are starting to offer them. I already have a cocobolo stockman from Empire Knives (877-215-5440, okc2u@yahoo.com). As noted above, Knifecenter.com now has some of the models on their website. I talked to the folks at Knives Plus (800-687-6202) and they said they will be offering them, too. They are slowly starting to make their way to market, but it is a new line this year and it may take some time before all models are available from your favorite vendor.
