Wow

much as i hate to say it but if i could get that for the twin i have with all the stuff
think i would have to sell ...
gee think i have 2 or three like that..

Well, there's a guy on there now who wants $359 for a beat-up '67 102.

Lotsa crazy sellers and crazy bidders.

:D

And now there's a crazy-handled Gen 5 to join the crazy-handled 113s.

Must be a full moon?

They took that one out of my league back in the lower two hundreds. Hope that seller went out for a celebration.

When I see a high final price like that......I always ask myself--is there something different or special or unique about that knife that would make it an unusual variation of that particular model?

That could account for the price, but I don't see anything different about the knife myself.

HE just cut the price in half. He must be a forum member and heard our conversation...

If we wern't interested in this knife in the slightest would this still constitute deal spotting, or the lack of???

Well, as I understand it, if the auction or sale is really bizarre and warrants question, discussion, etc., it's ok to even go so far as posting the link to it. A genuine reason must exist.

But, if you have any reason to believe it might be construed as trying to publicize that auction to enhance the seller's chances or get a better price......then posting a link should not be done.

Generally, it's pretty clear and works out ok, but it can backfire.

Yep, MBJ.......he's down to $158 now. Probably only a little more than double what it's worth.

:) Full moon coming.

Back to Kuri's original post.....anybody see anything special about the 186 that could account for the high final bid?

The bidding looks legit......no shill bidding to suspect that I can see and no collision of snipers at the end.

Well, if you go to the 186 auction and click on the "21 bids" and then on "Show Automatic Bids" you can see everything that happened and the time that it happened.

Shills are gonna be low feedback bidders and I don't see any......and the times that the bids came in don't show me any collision of last-second high bidders.

I was at a live auction one night and there were 2 old men that would that would get in a bidding war for anything that the auctioneer said had a brand name such as Case or Buck. They were so intent on outbidding each other on high value items, they failed to notice the faint etching on the Case filet knife that I got for $3.75. They actually bid 50.00 on a knife that was worth maybe 20.00

Auctioneers love these feuds between ornery old men.

:)

However, those kinds of guys are just a pain in the rear end for the rest of us.
