Hi guys,
The third batch (#1, 3, 8, 9, 19, 29, 33, 36, 37, 38) is packed and ready to ship to edgeworks. The plan is to ship tomorrow at noon.
Both the black and the white are striking, although they have very different characters. The black shows the "grain" of the canvas to a high degree. You have to look closely to see the fabric pattern on the white ones. At a distance, they resemble ivory.
These presented some interesting problems. For instance, the only way to polish the white handles was by hand, wet-or-dry paper to 2000 grit, 3 grades of diamond paste (again by hand) to finish. I won't say that the white micarta burns easily, but if you leave it in the same room with a buffer, you'd better have your fire insurance paid up.
Batch 4 (the final batch of confirmed order knives, with one more after that) starts as soon as I can get a weekend, or a day off. The initial work is best done all at one time. I'll let you know.
Thanks for your patience,
Bob Couture
