Last night I had a chance to look at some knives I bought to start rebuilding my collection. One was supposed to be a white handled 152,iInstead it is yellow.I reread the archives on these knives but couldn't find anything on a yellow version.Has anyone ever seen or read about one?Ebay #is 6586623673.Toby PS.I know I paid to much.

Toby, first off, the last MSRP on standard 152OT's was $38.00. This yellow handled one is uncommon, so paying a small premium for it is not out of the question. I've seen the orange ones go for as much. And I have seen more common knives go for much more. Secondly, regardless of what someone else might have paid, value is up to the individual collector. Congratulations on acquiring a nice Schrade! Also, the seller was not aware that it was not a white (i.e. made for scrim) delrin handle. It is a real "darlen" of a sharpie!

It's stamped 152 and its banana yellow. Thanks Codger, lately I sometimes doubt my judgement.Toby PS.I saved that ramble to my computer.Hope you don't mind.

These were made for SMKW about 3 or 4 years ago and they sold them for $14.95 each. I still have the SMKW catalog so i can dig it out for you and give you the exact date month and year they cataloged them and if i remember correctly they had 1500 of them manufactured for them but i do remember the price was only $14.95 because i kept putting off buying one untill it slipped my mind completely and i never did! One thing that kept putting me off was the stainless blade although i do have the uncle henry stainless versions i love carbon in using knives.

I do have the carbon steel orange handled set that they sold as the father son set 11 years ago. my set consists of the orange deerslayer and the orange sharpfinger and both shields say LIMITED EDITION rather than OLD TIMER they are really nice knives and i think i paid $34.95 plus shipping for the set. A great bargain! I have several different Fingers in my collection including 3 little fingers a couple of Deerslayers the drop point uncle henry and carbon Skoal versions as well as the mountain lion 160 model (Carbon steel) and 158ot orange and standard brown and several 152's (white, orange, brown, stag, staglon, green) and the reddish brown camillus version. I believe the model 152 and the model 160 are the perfect sheath knives for field and general camp work as well as any other task requiring a good sharp blade. the 150 is a bit big but almost as useful as the 160.

Thanks for the information. My only question is both the orange and the yellow are marked Schrade with no +.Are these stainless.BTW Why won't the old fashion magnet test work on the Schrade+ blades.Toby

Both steels contain iron. Only an aluminum, copper, or brass blade would give a different magnetic reaction that you could see. If you have a sensitive digital magnatometer, you could detect the difference the alloy makes. Just try to stain the exposed tang. If it takes, it is carbon and you can wipe it off. If it does not, it is stainless.

All of my orange handled ones are carbon except one. the one that is stainless doesnt have the + either but the yellow handled ones are all stainless as far as i know but then again i had no idea some of mine were decieving untill Codger pointed it out to me.

I think my 165OTO Deerhunter may be unmarked stainless, but I have not tested it yet. For a knife made in 1991 with no oil on it, it certainly is blemish free. Even on the exposed tang, which is usually where people touch them with skin oils, causing spots.
