I have a known love for both Ethan's and John's knives no doubt. Last night i put them both to the test. The knives in question are a 6.5" EDC/Pocket fixed blade John made my son (i got my son's permission prior to using it ) and a BK7. My son's knife will now be known as The Zipper. The victim was a 24' x 52" deep pool (intex brand thick vinyl that you can get at your local china mart) that we had for the past few summers that was needing to be dealt with. First off, i took The Zipper and zipped through the entire circumference to let the thick vinyl fall to the ground. The thing laughed as it went through the plastic like a hot knife through butter. And after was still hair flinging sharp. I then started using it to cut the rest of the pool up but my mind thought since this was a big chore that i needed to use a big knife . Enter: the BK7! It took me all of maybe 30 minutes to process that pool (you do the math how much cutting it is to make that pool into strips that would fit in a normal city trash can). The pool also had some very thick rope that the 7 just ate up. Yet another reason atop many that i love these two makers. Both knives made short work of their intended chores and im sure that if they went through that vinyl like that a deer/elk/whatever skin would be the same. Thanks Ethan and Mr. Kiedaisch! Your steel is TOPS in my book!
