I am so glad we seem to be beyond the single knife suggestions that used to be so popular a while ago.

I remember when I first joined this board - Rat's, Scrap Yard knives and the other sharpened pry bars were all the rage...

Then for a while every thread had the word 'Mora' written in at least 10 times.

We even went through a little Bark River phase...

Now it seems we understand there are a BUNCH of great knives, great customs, and great deals out there - and to each his own.

I am glad for this.

I'm all for practical redundancy. IMpractical redundancy is fine by me too, especially concerning edged tools:thumbup:

too true,

I know ive changed my tune a few times, but thats because of all the training I've gone through the last 2 years. I have said many times, and will say again, there is a wealth of knowledge on here, it just sometimes takes some digging. :D

Good point. I don't think people are stupid if they don't like my favorite brand, steel, design or pattern. Now if they don't like knives, that's a different matter.;):D

Yeah that makes sense - but I still recommend a scrapyard for the ugly stuff :D

Oh - don't get me wrong - I have no problem with the knives I mentioned above. They are all of great quality or bang for the buck - but thinking one knife does it all - or is the end all of knives - was silly... ;)

Thats why I had my BK9, Gerber ATS34 E-Z-Out and SOG Seal Revolver on me on my campout this weekend. Not one of those knives can do everything, but all 3 together can do anything I needed of them and more. :)

And yes, I agree it's nice to see people using more knives and understanding that there isn't just one for everything. The right tool for the right job. ;)

I'm pretty sure there is no one perfect knife for everything and surely not for everyone...the best you can hope for is to find the one you like best that suits the majority of your uses. If it suits your needs and makes you happy then other's opinions really don't matter...do they?

I have a couple of knives that pretty much do it all for me (small tasks that an Axe woudl not suit). But I like to have a few on me.

For instance - I was working on a walking stick yesterday - I used my Kephart to peel the bark and my Kosters Bushcraft to knock off the knots. I could use one knife - but both do things a bit differently and are easier to use.

The Be all to end all knife DOES exist! It is yay long, by so wide and this thick, has a handle thats fits , it is easy to sharpen, but I don't have to sharpen it very often. I forgot what its called, but it is pointy on one end and roundy on the other. Isn't that why we are all here?

glad we can all agree on Busse....LMAO!!!
just kidding(well not really) of coarse there are MANY, MANY knives that fit the bill...

it still can be a tough choice, selecting a favorite or go to blade, but THAT IS part of the fun!!
