You watch nuts gave me the bug...

I used to hate watches; the way they feel on my arm, either constrictive or sloppy. Clammy in the summer and in the way with long sleaves. Anyway, looking at all the cool watches you passionate watch freaks are always flaunting around here, I've developed an interest.

I really like the looks of those retro-ish Sinn models, as well as the more industrial Omegas. So, in order to see if I can become a watch wearer again, I decided to buy a cheapie and try wearing it for a while. I found a Timex that looked OK and have been wearing it for about a week. In the meanwhile (obsession beginning already), I grabbed a G-Shock on eBay- it's a new model that looks pretty cool (I think). That one will be the test- I tried on another G-Shock a few days ago and it was like wearing a toaster on my arm. Here's a pic of the one I bought- a bit bulky and goofy looking, but fun:

Anyway, I'm starting to like wearing the damned things, so it probably won't be long before I'm wearing something I can't afford. I just thought I'd say thanks for giving me something ELSE to obsess about.

*edited- "G-Force"??! Huh? SHOCK

you'll be buying surefires next. just picked up a Swiss Military chron at costco for $125.00. nice but not too busy. pm

Heh, don't get started.

I've worn this one for 6 months:

and am trying to get this one:

Once you start, you can't stop.

It's terrible.

And wait until you see the $6k IWC's, $20k Pateks, or the $100k Langes, Glashuettes, or their ilk.

Hah!

Oh hey- Costco; I forgot about them. I'm going to have to go check out their watches today.

I've owned Surefires for years now, so I'm good in that department. The thing is, flashlights are a lot cheaper than watches (at least the ones I lust after!).

$6K? $100K??! I really doubt I could take it that far (even if I won the Lotto)! Anyway, that Omega of yours, Jon, is awesome. What's that one in the second picture?

Why, thank you!

It was a present to myself (indirectly) after 4 years of college and 3 years of working in the nasty hard world. :p

I think I made a pretty good decision. The movement in it is great, and besides, it LOOKS pretty. ;)

It's a Seamaster Pro Auto Midsize, black dial. For those of you who like the Submariner's look, but aren't too hot on the fit, price, or the "cachet" of Rolex. (Hell, at $1800 vs. $4000, I'd take the Omega.)

The one below it is a Muhle Glashutte (or Muehle-Glashuette) S.A.R search and rescue timer.

It has a 4mm (!) thick sapphire crystal, ETA 2824-2 movement, and is water-resist to 1000m(!).

The bezel is rubber, and it's designed to take a serious beating.

Incredible thing.

Biogon, that's a cool Seamaster. I know how you feel when you wear it. I got a large Seamaster Pro Chronometer with the Laser Blue wave face and the polished Rhodium dial for my 40th in June. My wife must really like me!

I saw a medium Seamaster tonight at Costco with the dark blue bezel and face for about $879.00! There was also a really cool Bell & Ross for around $800.00, nevermind the Breitling Blackbird ( I really love this one but can't buy another watch so soon) for $1899.00!

I must say that I love my Omega. I've had it for a couple months now and still get a thrill putting it on.

Don't get the medium!
Don't you know there's a direct correlation to phallus size, sexual performance and life span and the size of your watch?
:D

WOW, Biogon, that is one sweet watch. I want one just like it in blue...

G-Force: I thought we were talking watches not anime or video cards! :) Seriously, that G-shock is a sweet watch as well.

Not in the same league, but this is what I'm thinking for my next watch. Sorta goes with my TnT...
