I am purchasing a Huckleberry Bowie from Harvey Dean. It is going to have a walrus ivory handle. He just emailed me a couple of photos of the ivory he has to choose from. Which scales would you go with?

I'm liking the caramel.

I'm personally leaning toward the white scales with all the colour, but I really like the lines in the salmon coloured ones.

Both pairs are cool but I would go for the caramel ones. This because both scales are more "uniform" and because of that for me the handle would look more balanced.

I chose the caramel because ivory like that always seems to have great depth and almost a translucent look. I feel that the white scales are alot more 2 dimenstional.

Keith,
Do you anticipate having the knife engraved?

That would (could) be a determining factor for me.

I like to start with a little deeper color as you are most likely to lose some of that pigment after he works/molds the ivory to the handle.
