Zdp189

I believe the last post by someone from Spyderco on the subject said "August/September" as the estimate.

According to Spyderco (TazKristi) the Delica has been rescheduled for January 2006 and will now have a solid (instead of laminated) ZDP-189 blade.

The wait continues - but it will be worth it!

Has there been any pictures showing what it is supposed to look like?

If you look at the sprint run sheet it states that the Caly is plain edge only but the Delica doesn't say that. I'm thinking that they might offer a serrated version...it is Spyderco after all. Also, I keep hearing Jan. 2006 but some vendors say that they WILL have the ZDP Delica in September. I wish there would be a definitive answer already.

If the ZDP Delica will be the same with the updated one (assembled with screws, 4 positions carry clip aso.), I don't think we'll see it this year :(

There is a vendor/dealer offering them on Ebay now. Is this not for real? I have had trouble with this dealer in the past though. But it is up on Ebay now as a ZDP-189 blade, Navy Blue handle?

That guy on Ebay says his vendor will have them next month. That made me ask the question...is it next month or 1/2006?!?!?

it's definitely January 2006 (if everything goes well) and for the info I'm still waiting for my ZDP Caly from this seller  (first and last time I'm buying from him...)

Here is a definitive answer... January 2006. We won't have them until then. It will be a PlainEdge only (more on that later).

As for the guy on E-Bay, I don't know him, but I did personally email him to make him aware of the change in delivery (last week). Sorry, but it won't be here any sooner.

We are not currently offering a SpyderEdge model with ZDP-189, however, it CAN be done. Sal's thoughts were for steel junkies and most steel junkies prefer a PlainEdge (Sal does for testing).

Hope this clears things up.

I am inclined to agree with Sal---yet again. :D

The EBay seller who is running these ads for the Navy Blue Delica with ZDP-189 is obviously not doing his customers right. I have personally had bad luck with this guy in knife dealings.
The ZDP-189 is some super blade steel. I love the performance of this steel so far. I have not gotten to do a thorough test with it like I have with S30V & D-2 ( 2 of my personal favorites) and ATS-55. It certainly has some different properties to it. The sharpness of the edge is really got a ridgid edge that really grabs what it cuts.
I am very suspect of anyone who sells knives that he does not have in stock for immediate delivery. Especially when Spyderco themselves tells us here on this Forum that they won't be available until January 06. We really need to figure out a way to rate and monitor these Ebay sellers ( commercial & Private) because the feedback method that is currently there on Ebay is very flawed in my opinion. I personally have wanted to leave about 4 Negatives but I held off knowing that I would get one myself from their retaliation.
Either on this Forum or the Spyderco.com Forum there ought to be a chat box about Ebay sellers/purveyors so that knife enthusiasts don't get abused by these hucksters. I admit that there has only been 4 bad ones out of several sellers but that is still 4 too many.
